It's not just the best hotel on the island
By Gary, 8/14/10
The restaurants are where you want to eat as well. The service here is what really separates the ritz from most others. Yes! it's expensive. If a seventeen dollar margarita cuts too deep stay at that dump down the street called the Westin. This is my second year at the Ritz and I effin love it. Get certified to dive before you get here and experience what Cayman is really about. I'm actually still here diving the North Wall.

SIMPLY FANTASTIC !!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/10/09
My husband & I spent one week at the Ritz-Carlton in a beautiful oceanfront room in February 2009. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were treated as special guests. We highly recommend the hotel. Food was great. Restaurant BLUE is a must. "7" for brunch is also a must. We also experienced dinner at several restaurants on the island and ALL of them offered great dining experience. Try dinner at LUCA, ABACUS, EDOARDO'S, LIGHTHOUSE, PRIME. You will not regret. Of course, food, drink are expensive in the Grand Cayman but you surely get the BEST. You get the same excellent food and service you would get at one of your favorite $$$$ restaurant in your own country. Relax and enjoy your visit and spoil yourself. That is the reason we normally go on holidays !!

Great experience, can't wairt ot get back!
By Marlene, 9/9/08
The Sommelier, Harvey was excellent! He was friendly and well knowlegeable with wine and food selections. His attitude reminded me of the kind of service we used to experience back in the 80's, respectful, delightful and just sweet, sweeter than my favorite chocolate!

Learn from our experiences!
The accommodations were impeccable and the food and service were excellent. In our opinion the Ritz offers be best dining of any place on the island, although very costly (a glass of wine costs CI$17.00/US$20.40, plus 15% tip). If you intend to tour the island to any extent, rent a car rather than taking a taxi. The locals will love having you. Enjoy your visit.

Not a good value for \"high end\" travelers
We rented the Presidential Suite (one of 4 at this hotel) and an adjoining bedroom. Pluses included a very large balcony overlooking the beach, decent sized LR and an (unused by us) kitchen equipped with Viking and SubZero products. Negatives: the one-bedroom Presidential had only one bath (usually the larger suites have an extra powder room for guests) the bathroom was small and not well-appointed at all. Regular tub and small shower, small vanity, etc. Shocking for a brand-new Ritz. In the master BR, the smallish king bed did not allow both people to comfortably watch the small (32") television in the armoir. In addition, the hotel does not have PPV movies (you have to borrow DVDs from the front desk). This may sound whiny, but at $3,700/night plus another $750 in tourism and "service" charges, the value of this particular Ritz was way below that of other locales, notably Manalapan, FL and Palm Springs, CA. Go for the one bedroom suite ($1.200/night) instead - much better value with similar appointments. This new property is extremely large, but the pool area is not; as other reviewers noted, be prepared to do a lot of walking between the lobby/restaurants and the beachfront. The Spa is great but very expensive, particular given the exchange rate for CI money vs. US dollars.

Cayman Islands
By Whoop, 9/7/06
We just got back from a 5 night trip. The hotel was absolutely fantastic. The staff were always very friendly and quick to greet you. The rooms were your average size hotel room maybe a tad larger, but very well appointed. However, the beds were not the great just average. The Westin has the best beds. Why did I rate the value and location average. I'm not a millionaire and did not stay on the ocean front rooms that average 800-1000 per night. I stayed resort side. It was not a bad walk at all, but it was just pool view. While I realize the Cayman islands were expensive, the Ritz was just a bit pround of their drinks and food. I did not find the food to be anything amazing. The same beer that cost $5 at the Westin cost about $10us at the ritz. The fine. I just didn't see the value. The location of the hotel was nothing special. 7 mile beach is about the same whereever you go. The island is still undergoing construction from Ivan. I will have to say that I was very disappointed in how the island looked in general. I was expecting a very picturesque island with beautiful swaying palm trees. Just a rather ugly island. 7 mile beach was beautiful and the waters were crystal clear. If this is your first time, sting ray city is a must. simply amazing experience. Disregard the recent death of Steve Erwin. These rays were very gentle. We went the day the the accident occurred. Have fun and bring lots of money. Everything you read about how expensive things are true.

AWESOME!!!
By JosephS, 7/10/06
The Ritz Carlton is the elite place to stay on the island. The hotel is new and it is a first class place to vacation. You will pay to play when you stay here but if you have the extra money it is worth every penny!!! Make sure you get an OCEAN FRONT ROOM!!! It is right on the beach and it is breath taking. If you have a regular room you will be staying across the street and have to walk across the entire hotel (5 min walk) to get to the beach side. Not to mention you will have a view of Georgetown and not the ocean. Drinks are expensive! $11 US currency for a beer. $21 US currency for a frozen drink. I would recommend eating at all three resturants...they are all great! The spa was top notch! The Tennis courts are great! The Golf Course...Yeah NOT OPEN YET!!! The Ritz is numero uno on Grand Cayman. Make sure you bring a lot of spendo...your going to need it!
