great place to do lots of nothing
i just got back from long bay resort with my girlfirend and her family and we had a great time. the biggest decision we had to make every day was, do we go to the pool or the beach? i was reading some other reviews of the resort, and i agree with many of the comments: do not go to this resort if you're expecting to be pampered every step of the way or if you're expecting to have a lot of choices as to what you can do on the property. your choices at long bay are essentially the pool (and the swim up bar/grill -- say hi to sheryl), the beautiful beach (head to the left for fewer rocks in the water), tennis (no one uses the grass courts), the spa (enh), the gym, or short (~1 mile) walks to smuggler's cove.
i'm not sure the exact room type we were in, but we did get upgraded to some third-floor villa room, pretty high up on the hill. the room was large, had ac and a small ktichenette, and a great view of the bay and the rest of the resort. the staff was generally friendly, but service tended to be on "island time".
overall, i'd definitely go back, but i learned that i can only spend so many days essentially doing nothing -- i'm pretty sure next time i'd do more on the island, but that's no fault of long bay.
