Accra Beach Hotel and Spa, Bridgetown

The service from the evening bellman is exceptional. He ought to be the preperty's manager. If you ever have to secure a booking, do not call the manager for details. She (the manager) seems to be the last to know anything about what's going on at the facility....so, just go online and make the booking and hope for the best. There is always availability, regardless of what she says. Additionally, you'd find that at night, sleep is almost impossible on some nights as you'd hear the loud voices of locals in the corridors (perhaps staff due to proximity to hotel office on the respective floor). Don't even try to reach the front desk after 10PM to help with this because noone answers the phone if there is a problem at night. You would think that the manager would be on top of this ! Last week, I booked this hotel for a quick business trip. The location is its only selling point. You can get up in the morning and go for a quick swim on the beach regardless of how little time you have for pleasure. The hotel internet service is deplorable. Wireless internet access is only available in the lobby and in the nearby conference rooms. So, at night the lobby is crammed with people having personal conversations with their loved ones online... Wireless routers are so cheap these days, that I find this inexcusable. Also, bear in mind that there are only about two power outlets in the lobby area so if you need to do business online, you have to ensure that your laptop is fully charged before venturing into the lobby. Cable internet access is available in the rooms, but you have to walk with your own network cable because they run out once the hotel has more than 10 guests... they actually put you on a waiting list for the cables. So business travellers, beware ! Did I mention the service at the bar in the lobby ? Well... the barman only attends to you if there are more than two people sitting at your table. I sat there for a total of 55 minutes and the barman never once approached my table to inquire of my needs. If you venture across the road to Bubba's restaurant, the service is impeccable though ! Oh.... the kitchen closes at 9:30 so if you have a late flight and you want to have dinner... tough luck ! You's have to settle for the local fast food outlet up the road ! So, for a business trip I would NOT recommend the hotel. For a vacation trip where you'd spend most of your time outdoors, its probably an option. In both situations, the other hotels nearby are cheaper so in terms of value.... you'd better do your research.

My last stay at the Accra Beach Hotel was wonderful. I have visited there several times over the years. I particularly enjoy the new rooms. The Architecture is very pleasing to the eye (not very pretentious). It complements its environment. The service was very good and the staff generally very friendly. The food at Wytukai was simply great. Finally Accra Beach is an excellent value for money. I do not believe a person would be able to get such nice rooms, service, food and facilities for what you pay to stay at the Accra anywhere else. Accra is well on its way to becoming one of the great hotels in Barbados....

The location is great,the beach cool but it is the efficiency and friendliness of the staff, that really impressed me. The overall ambience is extremely relaxed and one feels at home. They give a good European breakfast that comes with the room. There were three negative factors, construction in the new wing, the TV did not give all programmes and two electricity outages in 10 days. Since I planned to come back again, I checked out a few other places during my stay but did not find them equal value for money or friendliness. Inspite of this,I plan to stay here again.

Great location, comfortable room, Marvellous beach. The food was very good although service was a little slow at the Coco Patch. The employees are very friendly. We had a problem with the tap in our bathroom and they fixed it within an hour. The staff was always willing to assist in any way and in all our stay was everything we expected it to be.If you don't want to eat at the hotel there's Chefette right down the street and lots of other choices.You can even take a #11 bus into Bridgetown for lots of great shopping and lunch. The beach can be very private in the evenings as families mostly stay by the pools. If we didn't have the time to experience all parts of Barbados we would go more than once to this Hotel.

All I can say it that the Accra Beach is one of the best hotels in Barbados to stay at. I visited there in June 05 and made new friends that I shall for ever treasure. Nicholas Alleyne the Sales Manager and Jennifer Crane of Activities. These two are the emitame of customer service, they should open a school ha ha. The facilities were excellent- pool beach, restaurant etc. The food was great do not know which I like best Wytukai (Polynesian) or CocoPatch. Hats off to the chef. Only thing was the gym was out of service but suppose to be up soon. When or if I get married it has to be there or sorry for my wife. I highly recommend Accra to all types business, pleasure, young, old. You will only be amazed that it price is so good for such excellent service. Thanks Nicholas and Jennifer. See you soon.

Accra Beach hotel was perfect for us. We went for a week get away from New York snow, and for the price the hotel was perfect. The people were friendly, food was good, rooms were clean. We sat by the pool mostly because we did not feel to safe on the beach, there were lots of shaddy characters trying to sell you all sorts of things. So we mostly stayed by the pool which was lovely. It gets very hot in Barbados so the umbrellas by the pool were usually a fight. One day we went out early set up by the pool, went swimming, and then walked over to the bar, by the time we got back, someone stole our umbrella!! They could have used more umbrellas by the pool. The hotel is in a good location if you want to rent a car and explore the island, as we did. They have great open cars, and lots of sights to see in Barbados. I would probably go back to this hotel again. Nothing fancy, but great for a relaxing get away.

I can not believe the review that was sent in about keeping a dog in the room. If I had been there at the same time I would have insisted that the dog be removed. If people want to take dogs on holiday ( for what ever reason) then go into a caravan or a tent not a nice hotel like the ACCRA. We have a dog ourselves so we are not anti pets. 10 out 10 for the night manager getting rid of the dog. We have been to the Accra around 10 times and returned Jan 05 after spending Xmas and new year there. We are back Dec 05 for a month and meeting around 12 people that we meet every year. Can't be that bad. Still you can't please everyone. Let these doggy people try a few pig hotels in Barbados, or better still let them stay away from Barbados. We don't want dogs in the sea etc. I can assure you that the Accra is the best for all round value. We have tried a few ( believe me)don't waste a holiday in beautifull Barbados staying in a dive go straight to the ACCRA.
