Hope Hilton improved this hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/7/11
When this hotel was owned by Best Western, a friend and I were held in our room by an outsider. We were robbed and mentally and physically abused for about 1/2 hr. This certainly has affected me and won't be visiting The Bahamas again.

Not what I Expect from Hilton
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/10
This hotel is in a great location, BUT... the hotel itself was not what I would expect from Hilton Properties. Bathrooms are not cleaned very well, mold in the tile grout, toilet did not work properly, lots of stains and wear in the sinks and tub, poor bathroom lighting, staff was less than friendly, food was extremely over priced.....BUT the location was great. If you only expect comfort Inn quality, then this hotel will work for you.

Perfect location, wonderful staff and great food!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/09
Despite reading some negative reviews, we were happy that we decided to stay at the British Colonial Hilton while on a recent eight day family holiday in the Bahamas. Contrary to the reviews, we found all the staff including housekeeping (especially Judy) to be genuinely warm, friendly and extremely helpful. We experienced the warm hospitality from the moment we were greeted at the check-in desk by Leneisha to the day we left. We would like to specially mention all the staff on the Executive floor. They went out of their way to make our stay relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable. Our room was also spacious and nice. While enjoying the good ocean, beach and pool view from our room, we were able to watch cruise ships as they come in each day to dock nearby. The hotel was also conveniently located within walking distance to the downtown Nassau shops and the popular Fish Fry area where we had the opportunity to savour the delicious local cuisine. The least enjoyable thing was the automatic 15% gratuity which was added on to every food and drink order but if this means that staff gets to share the tips then it is acceptable. Although we found the cost of living to be high in the Bahamas, we would certainly return and definitely stay again at the British Colonial Hilton. We would also recommend it to our friends. After all who can resist the white sandy beaches, the warmth of the people and the rich island culture!

3 days of fun
By lypglossqueen, 6/9/09
I liked this hotel. A few people on staff need a little "refresher" in hospitality. The only thing I did not like was the size of the rooms. They are TINY!!! not that I spent much time in my room. But still, the bed took up half of our room. Aside from that, we had a good view of the beach, watched the cruise ships dock. Loved the bathroom shower!! clear glass, a bit on the small side though. A pleasant experience for both myself and my honey. We will come here again.

Fantastic Place!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/21/08
There is absolutely nothing at all that my wife and myself disliked. In fact we LOVED this place. From the moment we got there we loved the fact that it is located right in Nassau. Beautifully decorated, clean, classy, very clean beach right there at the hotel. Very friendly and courteous staff. My wife and I travel a fair amount both in the Caribbean and in Europe and by far this has been one of our best experiences. This hotel deserves a 5 star and no less than a 4. You will not have any regrets!! PS. Try the Seafood buffett on Sat. nights--fantastic!!

Ups and Downs
By ELItely Southern, 4/13/08
This is a beautiful hotel. The water is awesome. The pool was great. Some of the staff (Phillip and Gerrard) were really nice and fun to talk to. However, the vast majority of the staff really had a poor attitude. A 15% gratuity is automatically added to every food or drink item and the service reflects the fact that they don't have to work for it. The price for everything is over the top outrageous. $15 for a hamburger (plus 15%). The Fish Fry area of town was very sub par in terms of quality food and was pretty expensive too. So we found it better to pay the extra at the hotel and have pretty good food. Paradise Island is fun and we spent quite of bit of time over there, but the reality is the Hilton is a good business travel hotel, not a good place for a vacation. Further, the rooms were clean and bed comfortable, but very tiny, and the windows don't open. And the internet is $20 per day.

Tiny
By Bell, 3/14/08
I was overly dissatisfied with the disorganized nature of the Bahamas, and the Hilton didn't escape this disorganization. This hotel wasn't concrete on correct departure dates, which was annoying and led to many confused phone calls from hotel staff. The room was very clean, but loud and tiny. I could hear everything from the room next door, but maybe it's because I felt like I was in a closet. Also, my room was far too cold.
