Scuba Club Cozumel, San Miguel de Cozumel

The hotel was nice the staff was very friendly and helpful. Meals were good and staff was great. As far as the dive operation, I would not recommend them. Hotel has a private dock and will not let any other scuba facility pick up guest at the dock. We had a dive master that took us against strong currents on the first day. We voiced our complaints in which he said we were not experienced divers. I am an insturctor and had several divers with over 100 dives each. It took about 15 minutes of complaining to get him to understand we were very unhappy. The other group on our boat (Reef Star) voiced complaints with their divemaster. I do not recommend this resort.

The best part about Scuba Club Cozumel was the staff. There's nothing better than to spend time and getting to know such memorable people. They always had a smile on their face and clearly loved their jobs.

I have stayed here a dozen times and will be back in December, 2008. The hotel staff treats you like family and I stay in touch with some when I'm home. The rooms are simple yet comfortable. Housekeeping is outstanding. Food, particularly lunch, is excellent. Great wait staff. Instructors and Divemasters are first rate. How do I know, been a PADI Instructor for 16 years. Boats are spacious. My one gripe, the boats are slow! After lunch you won't need TV. Go to the hammocks by the water, grab a good book, a good Cuban cigar and who needs TV? Facility is very safe. Close to town, you can walk to town if you miss the downtown chaos, you are a ten minute walk away or 2 minute cab ride. This is a must stay place.

Our trip was all-inclusive and cashless, so we never had to worry about carrying money. All tips for maids, wait staff and dive crews were not expected until the end of the trip so there was never anyone with their hand out constantly for tips. The office had lock boxes for keeping cash and passports safe. The resort is between a busy street and the ocean, so at times the traffic noise in the room was loud, as the hallway to our room was facing the street. There was a guard at the resort gates 24-7, so only guests and employees were on the grounds. Each employee I met from Scuba Club Cozumel was smiling, pleasant, friendly, and went out of their way to make our visit enjoyable. The grounds were constantly being washed, swept and wiped down. Even the sand was raked free of blown in flowers, leaves and bird footprints several times a day. I loved that there were no televisions or phones in the rooms. Internet service was spotty inside the room, but out on the deck overlooking the ocean was a better place to compose emails to friends and family back home, anyway. My favorite part of the resort, besides the scuba diving, was the rows of hammocks in the palapas beside the ocean. It was a great place to meet up and discuss the week's diving, or just relax and listen to the ocean.

This was my first diving experience with Scuba Club (SC)in four years. My wife and I enjoyed the water front piers, no sandy beach but the small outside pool was ok for kids. Excellent shore diving and night diving locations to get turned up prior to diving from dive boats. The rooms were very clean and the food and wait staff were very good and friendly. The food was always available after the boat came back from diving. The SC has a excellent dive staff and I favored Lester as my Diver Master of choice. He always kept an eye on the inexperience divers who were the first to be low on air. I have shared air with Lester when low on air at one time and used his sausage to surface ahead of the other divers.

We are planning our 4th trip back to Scuba Club Cozumel. We go every year. The relaxed afternoons are perfect following morning dives and a delicious lunch. Hammock time next to the beach in the shade is heaven on earth. The food is prepared especially with the diver in mind so you never have to worry about an upset stomach spoiling a dive trip. Dive crew and boats are specifically arranged for divers, whether beginneer or advanced. You get to choose the dive team, boat, and other divers. Rooms are laid out for diving and relaxing. Easy walk to downtown or cheap taxi ride. No telephones or tv in rooms means that you get to escape for your vacation. Free wi hi fi by the pool and restaurant allows you to stay connected to the outside world if you choose. The staff (shore and sea) are gracious and exceptional. We go with our children, our parents,our friends, and non-divers. No one has been disappointed. Scuba Club is not a commercial experience, it is a true oasis for a dive vacation.

I have stayed here many times over the last 20 years and will continue. I just spent Thanksgiving Week there. The diving operation is well-run by on-site professionals with 7 boats of varying sizes. I was with a large group of friends who like to dive together so we opted for the largest boat but there are smaller boats for smaller groups. Easy shore access diving also. The hotel rooms are perfect for wet gear - tile floors all over and large showers. Every room has a different layout - no cookie cutter resort room here! Most of the staff are the same people from 20 years ago - and very attentive. Scuba Club is a cheap cab ride to town (not like most of the other resorts). Free wifi in restaurant and on patios, small fridge & AC in rooms, no tv or phone in rooms. Restaurant serves very good food. Small freshwater pool. I highly recommend for divers in Cozumel.

Everything at this resort was great. A perfect spot for divers. It is a 5 star value. It was our first dive vacation and we loved every minute. A great vacation from start to finish! My only concern was the water quality in the pool. It was not up the the 5* rating of the rest of the hotel. This certainly would not keep me from spending my next dive vacation at Scuba Club Cozumel

We met a friend there who has been there 12 times. My daughter tried diving and was certified and my wife even made 3 intro. dives. There was a lot to see if you looked carefully right off the resort and up current. The whole set up is for diving and no other distractions. the room was cleaned every day and the food was on time, prepared well and tasty. Not a singles resort, it was fine for our 15 year old. It might be a bit boreing for a non-diver and younger children. We will go back.

The rooms were nice, the food was good, and the diving was awesome, plus the drinks were cheep. Lestor and Carla were the dive masters I prefered to dive with, and the shore diving was great and the area infront of the resort is full of life and a nice afternoon or night dive.
