Great hotels, but a few major flaws
Walper Terrace is kind of neat in that it's really old and historical and definitely has that feel. The downside of this is that it seemed really old and in dire need of an update. It's hard to compare it to more modern hotels, so I can overlook the older furniture and decor, but there were a couple of major problems. It was a cold night so we needed the radiators on... and they were VERY loud to the point that we couldn't sleep. The temp gauge was broken on one, which they did send someone up to fix, but this sort of thing would be working. Also, hairdryer in the bath room didn't work which is not the end of the world, but is sloppy service.
A couple of pluses to the hotel is that it's good value - we paid $10 extra from the base rate to get a junior suite which was a great size. Also, pub and restaurant downstairs are nice. Service was also very friendly. I wouldn't stay there again in the fall/winter because of the heaters, but I'd be likely to go back in the spring/summer timeframe.
