Needs improvement
By Toronto fan, 8/29/08
The hotel did not inform us that valet parking was mandatory. This was very inconvenient and an extra charge $16/day. The doors on the hotel rooms need to be replaced as they slam shut. This was very annoying when hearing the doors slam from across the hall late at night. So much for the advertised "Sleep advantage". Also, there is not much within walking distance wrt restaurants/shopping. Would not go back.

What A NightMare ... Would Not Recommend !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/08
Well when I made reservations via phone, I was not made aware of the renovations that was taken place. Secondly the room type that I requested was not issued upon arrival. Third, the next room that was issued to me, the heater/air has a burning smell when used and the tv didn't work. Checked in at 8pm and got a working room at 11pm. And to be awaked at an early hour due to hotel renovations, was just not acceptable. I must say that my one night stay was so horrible that I booked a room at the Quality Inn and had a much better stay. Also I was not made aware of the valet fees upon confirming my reservations. My stay at your hotal was extremely disapointing and I would rate it a 2 from 10. Also I had bugs in my room, which I have pictures of, how gross is that.

Avoid this hotel
By HeatherA, 8/20/07
First, there is a major construction project going on in front of the hotel. Parking is a nightmare & retrieving our car from the valet service took over 20 minutes. When we got to our room, there was plywood board over the sliding glass doors. At first, the front desk refused to give us another room citing a group taking up much of the rooms. Finally, they relented and gave us another room. The new room was fine, except that we couldn't open our sliding glass doors as they were locked. Beds were ok. The hotel advertises an indoor and outdoor pool, but the outdoor pool is now gone due to construction. Indoor pool is small with hardly anywhere to sit. In the stairwell leading to the pool, there was infestation of ants. Staff members seemed not to care. The highlight of our stay was the restaurant. The wait staff were excellent and very friendly. The food was really good! We especially enjoyed the Cesaer's salad and the baba ganoush (sp?). The location was convient for our needs as we were visiting extended family, but trying to get to the city by public transportation took quite a while. One has to take a bus then subway to get downtown. About a 40 minute journey. Overall, not the best experience. We were disappointed because we expected so much more from a Crowne Plaza.

Amazing ... Time & Time Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/14/07
I have been surprised to see several complaints with the service and overall appearance of this hotel. My partner and I make monthly trips to Toronto had have had the pleasure of staying at this hotel on several of those occasions. The rooms are always immaculate and the beds are superior! Breakfast is always a must-have in the morning and the wait staff are charming and helpful. The Spa and Indoor Pool make for a relaxing beginning or end to your travelling day. Highly recommend!

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! What a DUMP!
By Tom, 10/27/06
This hotel is awful. I work for a large corporation headquartered only 2 blocks away. Despite the convenience of its location I will NEVER stay here again. The property is in terrible shape, everything is old and the staff is incredibly arrogant and rude. On top of that they are still trying to bill me for items 2 months after my stay! And that is after they double-charged me for my original stay and then fought with my credit card company that their charges were correct. All in all, an awful hotel with absolutely nothing for me to recommend. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

you have to pay for parking
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/05
The room was sufficient. We found a few used Q-tips in one of the waste baskets... were not happy to see that. Otherwise the room was good enough for the stay. Parking situation is terrible. $8 for parking is rediculous, especially when space were limited. We had to park far away in the back. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly.

Toronto at a slower pace
By Holly, 5/27/05
I enjoyed the amenities at the Crown Royale Hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The hotel staff were extra nice and friendly. The hotel wass very convienant to major Toronto attractions. It is located outside of the busy city. Very easy to access. The only down fall is the noise at night in the hallways. Make sure you do not stay in a room near the stairs.
