OK and convenient but small rooms
By Laurel, 9/11/08
The rooms were very small but very clean and neat . Make sure you're not on the side that the windows look into the building next door because it's a flop house with all weird drug people in there. Our room overlooked parking lot and that was best. Get up on 3rd floor so you don't get street noise. Good location for getting in all directions but there were so many drugged up people laying on sidewalks all day and night. You will be approached for money but I guess it's safe (so they told us). Staff was very nice, restauarant was good to have close by. Did not feel like going out at night since so much drugs are around. Several streets smelled like urine, but not at the hotel. I don't think it matters where you stay in town - weird people are everywhere. Walk or ferry to Grandville Island to shop adn dine. Would not return to Vancouver again. At end of cruise thought two extra days would be nice there,, but had I know we would have gone straight home.

LOUD + Small = bad.
By derek, 1/16/06
LOOK ELSEWHERE TO STAY: So, the problem with this hotel is that it is literally a crapshoot of who you will get for a neighbour, and which of the rooms you decide to get. Three groups of people with us stayed here, and each had a nightmarish tale at one point or another with little sleep and grumpy feelings. First night, the noise was so loud, that I had to end up calling front desk and getting moved in the middle of the night. It was fine in the 'upgraded' room until at 5 am, a couple came in and had a quarrel, which I could hear the finer details of. That wasn't bad, but waking up to the make up sex in the morning was disturbing. second night went off without a hitch, although the rooms are literally so small, they need to mount the TVs into the roof corner. 1 foot around a bed, and at most 3 feet at the foot. third night went a lot like the first with no sleep and a grumpy waking day. Although the staff insisted they made a note of having to move me first night, and that I was at their desk at 3 am, looking to sleep on mine - and not my neighbours schedule, NO MONEY was taken off. nice 100% garauntee. two other groups with us - said street noise was a big problem. bottom line : there is a lot better hotels for 70 - 80 downtown. LOOK ELSEWHERE!

Great service on a budget!!!
By Aquarius, 9/23/05
My partner & I are from Whistler & have stayed in the Comfort Inn several times before. We have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff & the rooms are very nicely decorated & very clean. The location is great if you want to walk to everything & even though the area may not be the most disirable, we were not harassed at all. If you are on a budget but do not want budget style service or rooms, this is the place. Being from Whistler & in the hospitality industry myself, my standards are quite high & the Comfort Inn meets all of them. Good Job to the staff!

Good hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/19/05
I don't know what all the bad reviews were about, I thought it was a good hotel. I would definitely stay there again! It's in a great location, we walked almost everywhere. It's close to the famous Robson shopping street, lots of restaurants and to the pier. The rooms have been renovated and they're clean and nice although they're kinda small. The staff was helpful and gave us restaurant recommendations. Not recommended for large families. The downside is the $10 parking in a small open parking lot.

Good place for a tight budget.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/2/05
This is the place you want to stay at if you don't want to spend too much money. The place was hot and the air condition was broken in my room. It looks like the place has been around forever and nothing has been replaced since the 70's. One good thing about this place was that, it was close to the airport, mall, and resturants.

Good Choice for Budget Conscious
By Pam, 5/13/05
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nice. The hotel is centrally located, though right in the Entertainment district, where there are lots of bars and clubs. I felt it was safe enough as a single female traveler. The staff was fine, breakfast (at the Irish Pub) was ok. If you're on a budget and don't want to stay at a hostel, this is a great place to stay downtown.

A TEAM IS THE BEST
By Pedro Baeza, 9/26/04
I love the front desk staff at CI. Especially the indian guys that call themself A team. You guys are the best. We'll come see you again. For all other tourists, check out the A Team. If you boys read this, you guys are funny, go to stand up comedy.

Very loud!
By smoss, 9/3/04
Stayed there in August 2004, and little did we know that this hotel is situated right above a dance club. The music went until about 2am! Very hard to get to sleep! Also, even though the hotel is walking distance from all the touristy places (which is why we booked this place to begin with) it is also right next door to alot of very X-rated stores and strip clubs. The room we got was quite large which was nice and the bathroom was in good condition. You have access to high speed internet access at their computer in the lobby and they charge about $10 for parking in the lot next door (charging for parking is not uncommon for the downtown hotels). They have complimentary cold breakfast in the morning which was actually nice as they really did have alot of everything. So if you are looking for a fair price in a hotel that is right smack downtown and don't care about the noise, then this place is for you.

welcome to cracktown
By GibBrogan, 5/6/04
If it is hookers junkies and porn shops that you need near your hotel with tiny rooms and rude service, then the CI Downtown is for you. The gauntlet of junkies appears at sunset and is alarming to go to sleep with outside. If you get a room like mine you get a view of the back of a tenement that shares a wall with the CI.

Find another hotel. wait, find another city, Vancouver is covered in junkies, prostitutes and panhandlers like no other city I have ever visited. Makes me think again about my views of legalizaing marijuana....
