Poor hotel choice in Calgary
By W, 7/12/09
The hotel is located on the edge of downtown Calgary's less desirable area. Walking around during the day seemed fine but I would not walk after dark. The staff was friendly and room service was good and very prompt. The hotel lobby was tiny and not very welcoming. The room was straight but not very clean. Finding electrical outlets proved a chore. The only free receptacle was a cheap power strip plugged into an overloaded receptacle. The room was very small. I would be ashamed to charge the rates they do for such a tiny, poorly lit and unkept room. The hotel advertises a pool but during our three days at the hotel it was closed two for private functions at the Raw Bar, the hotel restaurant. The pool is there but it was obvious that it was a part of the restaurant and not necessarily intended for guest use. In addition to the room rate the hotel charges $13 for valet parking, even if you do not use it. It is essentially their way of extracting a parking fee. Internet service is $10 per day. Considering the room size and rate, charging for internet and parking was absurd. I will never return. Our three days in Calgary were great but not because we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel.

Disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/23/09
We were looking for a romantic getaway here in town. We saw an ad for Hotel Arts and thought we would give it a try. When we arrived there were some sketchy people hanging outside around the hotel. I would not recommend walking alone in that area. Once inside the staff were friendly at the reception area. Our room was very dark, lacked closet space and lots of dust visable. We wonder if they ever vacuum or dust? For dinner we ate in the restaurant, Raw, which had good food but service was slow. It took a good 15mins before we were acknowledged by our server. There is no indoor pool or hotub and only a small gym. For the kind of money we paid, we expected better service and a cleaner hotel room. Next time I would stay at a better quality hotel like the Hyatt or Westin.

Gotta go back soon!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/23/08
I loved the way everything smelled. It smelled clean, and it isn't that far from the Calgary Stampede Grounds. While I stayed there my friends called me and i told them it was the greatest hotel I have ever stayed at.

Hip Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/07
My wife and I enjoyed a romantic weekend away from the kids and our experience at Hotel Arts was nothing short of fantastic. Staff are super friendly and eager to help. Rooms are very cool (beds are incredible and the enormous flat screen TV was a nice touch). We had an amazing meal in the Raw Bar (great wine list, eclectic selections, save room for dessert). The only downside was a little sunburn I got when hanging out poolside sipping cocktails from the Raw Bar. It felt like we were in L.A. for the weekend. Can't wait to try out Hotel Arts again and their other restaurant, St. Germain.

Labor Day Weekend 2007
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/11/07
We stayed here on the last night b4 leaving to fly home and were very impressed with the hotel. The staff were great, they assisted us with restaurant recommendations and made interesting chit-chat while we checked in. They had a private event going on at the pool this night and were apologetic for the inconvenience. We would definitely stay here in the future!

Best Stay Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/28/07
We stayed here for a week, not only were the staff helpful but they went above and beyond our expectations. The food was great. Was definetly worth the price and will visit everytime we're in Calgary.

never again

To start with, the staff were absolutely terrible. No one offered assistance or greeted us by name even though we had a 3 week stay. We would definatly prefer the Hyatt Regency hotel in Calgary, their guest services team is fantastic.
