a littl pricy from what you get
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/23/08
I was in the king suite and the room is smaller than what i had expected from fairmont. The walls are paper thin, so if you have someone staying next to your room you can hear everything. The food was great and very happy with it.

Best weekend ever!
By Jay, 7/5/07
I spent the last long weekend at the Hotel MacDonald and it was the most enjoyable holiday I've had in a long time! I'd originally only booked 2 nights and ended up extending it to 3 because I just did not want to leave! The service was excellent. Everything was clean and well kept. Staff were polite and tended to our every need. The room was absolutely beautiful and the bed and pillows, so comfortable I never wanted to get out! I'd highly reccomend this to anyone looking for a long stay or a short one, it was WELL worth my dollar!

Excellent Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/29/06
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I felt like my wife and I were treated as royalty. I use a power wheelchair and they had all my required accessible needs in my room and waiting for our arrival. I felt the manager far exceeded our expectations and went out of her way to insure all our needs were more then met. If not for her research of the transit system, we may not have been able to go to the West Edmonton Mall as often as we wanted. If you are looking for less expensive meals, there are many restaurants in the area and hotel staff were willing to make reservations for us at any of the ones we wanted to try. I would not hesitate to go back to the Fairmont MacDonald Hotel in the future.

Never going back, even if you paid me!
This place was woefully lacking in customer service, and overpriced to boot. My friend generously gave us a night at the hotel as a wedding gift, and my spouse's loser "buddies" were allowed to sneak in and fill the room with smelly onions. When I asked the hotel staff why other people were allowed into our room without our knowledge (or the knowledge of our generous gift giver), they didn't even apologise. They claimed the pranksters told them it was a pleasant "surprise" but never bothered to witness the act to make sure it wasn't offensive. The hotel staff never apologised, and even when I suggested they could provide us with some sort of complimentary amenity to make up for their staff's lapse in judgement, and incredibly poor service, they refused! I am appalled that a "service industry" business would treat a new bride (or any hotel guest) so poorly and be so unbelievably unrepentant about shoddy service.

Why the Queen stayed here.
By Bahumat, 5/26/05
Because the Queen demands the best, and the best in edmonton is the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. Unbeatable service, exquisite food and rooms, and a one-of-a-kind building, one of the oldest in Edmonton. It's luxury, and in this case you are certainly getting what you're paying for.
