Hotel Blackfoot, Calgary

My 2 friends and I were in Calgary for a Convention at the Saddledome. What we liked most: The great food on the buffet, the friendly and accommodating maid service, the location. We had a car so were able to vist the great shopping at Chinook Centre, and always found a place to park upon our return. We were disappointed with the fact that there is NOT a fridge and microwave in every room. You must order them ahead of time. Please do not advertise that there IS this service in every room. The 6th floor rooms are very hot. It seemed there was no air flow except to open the window. It made me almost want to jump out!! Wheew! I would stay at this hotel again.

Although the location is not the best, this hotel has some potential. Rooms are clean and decent size and the adjacent amenities are quite good. However, our stay was marred by stoic front desk staff, hot room where the thermostat can only be used to raise the temperature , noisy elevator was too close to the room and shameful extra charges. For example the hotel boasts to offer “ high-speed wired and wireless Internet access” but then they want $10.00 to have access to it in your room , or you can log in in the lobby for free. Even Super 8 provides free wireless . For a 3 star hotel this is embarrassing. Until they fix things up there are better choices.

I stayed at The Blackfoot Inn because that's where my company put me. It is near our office, in a very industrial area. There is NOTHING around (within walking distance), so if you don't have a car, you're basically stuck at the hotel. There is a mall, the Chinook Centre, about 1-2 miles away. Definitely not walking distance in the winter! I had breakfast at Green's Restaurant each morning. The food was good...but what impressed me more was that the waitresses remembered me (and my order) after just one morning. They were friendly and quick with service. Room Service was also quick and friendly. The rooms were comfortable, but nothing special; just an average hotel room. If you're looking to stay in the hub of Calgary, this is not the place; however, if it's close to your final destination, then it's decent enough.

Even the non-smoking rooms smell of cigarettes. For this price I would rather stay at a Holiday Inn. The hallways and foyer are dirty and dark. It took 35 minutes for breakfast... it still hadn't come so I left.
