Dissapointed in the "New" Wort Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/09/06
I have stayed at the Wort many times in the past but have to say that things have changed and not for the better. Our Last stay at the hotel was for 5 days. It was a disaster from the time we entered the building. I asked the young man at the front desk if someone could help my husband with the bags and he informed me that he was too busy and nobody else was around. Ok, but I stood there for 10 minutes while my husband brought in the bags and the young man did nothing the whole time. Busy? Hmmm… The next day we wanted to eat in the Silver Dollar Grill, it had been remodeled since our last visit. I called down to the front desk and the same young man that checked us in answered the phone. I asked to make a reservation for dinner. He said sure no problem and took our info and confirmed we had a reservation for 8pm. We arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes prior to our reservation and lo and behold no reservation and the wait was 40 minutes. Ok… The next day my husband asked to talk to the manager and the same young man informed us that he was the manager and that we must have been mistaken about making a reservation with him. He informed my husband that I must have called another restaurant and just been confused. How dialing “0” from an in-room phone could connect us to an off site restaurant he could not explain. So it was all our fault… On our last day housekeeping didn’t refresh our supply of towels. I called down to the front desk and was told that I’d have to come down there and pick up the towels because they were very busy. Ok no problem… I get there, nobody was doing anything and no towels! The lady at the desk said that nobody told her to have towels and that she didn’t have any but would have someone from housekeeping bring them up to us asap. Alright… an hour later I call down and the young man tells me that I need to come down and get them. I explained to him I was already down there and he told me that he didn’t see me and he was at the front desk the whole afternoon. So I guess I imagined I was there… I was VERY disappointed with the new Wort! They have spent a lot of time and effort redoing the restaurant and bar, and from what I was told many of the rooms. Yet the service from some of the staff was so bad that I will not be going back again. I could possibly chalk it up to one or two bad seasonal employees but for the worst to be a manager well that doesn’t inspire much confidence.

Bed bugs!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/01/06
I recently traveled to the Jackson area to look for real estate, and booked a room at the Wort based on recommendations that I read in several different places. After getting 2 hours of sleep the previous night, traveling all morning, then looking at properties all afternoon all I wanted to do was crawl in bed and get some sleep. As I began to doze off, I began to feel a tickling sensation on my legs. At first I thought it was my imagination and ignored it. Then I felt the same senesation on my face. I quickly turned on the lights to see a dozen or more bed bugs scatter like cockroaches. I called the front desk and spoke to a guy who didnt sound the least bit surprised, but offered to move me to another room. It almost sounded like he had heard this story before, so at 10:00pm I decided to pack my bags (probably full of bed bug eggs that are going to hatch in my house in the next few days), check out and move to another hotel. So if you decide to stay at the Wort (especially in room 233), dont let the bed bugs bite!

Comfortable, Friendly, Lovely Decor
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/27/05
We spent six nights at this wonderful hotel in August 2005. It is located right in the heart of town close to many terrific shops and restaurants. The room was spacious, had a lovely and homey western decor, and the beds were so comfortable!! My daughter loved the large cuddly stuffed bear (all of the rooms have them as part of the decor) and slept with it every night. Staff was friendly and helpful. Upon arrival the bellhop whose name was Sean spent alot of time with us telling us about the town and was very helpful in directing us to some of the best restaurants in the area. Our experience at this hotel was a very positive one and I would definitely stay there again if I visit Jackson in the future. By the way, I absolutely LOVED the magnificent staircase in the lobby!

don't stay at this hotel
By bob, 07/04/05
1. it is over priced at 247.00 a night. 2. Front desk very curt and unfriendly not helpful at all. 3. parking for your car is a blockaway. 4. our room had someones shoe left in it when we checked in. 5. I left some change and a few bills on the desk when we went out to explore Jackson on our return it was gone. 6. thier billing practice of making you make a large deposit well in advance of our stay did not set well, (over $500.00 for 5 day stay) 7. Room was nice and large. 8. Location in middle of downtown was a positive. 9. Valet parking is $10.00 a day to get your car from a not secure location one block away.

A Heavenly Hotel in the Most Beautiful Place on Earth!!
By Judith, 06/09/05
My husband and I just returned from our third trip to Jackson Hole -- and our third stay at the Wort Hotel. This is an amazing place to stay -- and we can hardly wait to go back again!! If possible, get one of the romantic suites -- bedroom, bath with dressing area, and large separate living/dining area. You'll sink into the sofas -- and sleep will come easy in the big and comfortable bed. The suites are as spacious as home, and equally as comfortable. The hotel itself is located in the middle of downtown so that shopping is only footsteps away -- incredible art galleries selling western-style paintings and home furnishing stores with elkhorn lamps. But the city location costs nothing in terms of view. The hotel is at the base of the picturesque mountains -- spectacular views. It's really the best of both worlds -- intown convenience and tremendously scenic too. And don't leave the Wort Hotel without experiencing the dining room. My husband and I, over the course of our stay, ordered nearly everything on the menu -- and everything was delicious. But nothing tops the incredible filet mignon -- the best I have ever had. I do not know what the chefs do to make it so special, but it is tender and has the best flavor of any filet mignon that I've ever experienced -- and I've sampled at hotels and restaurants worldwide. The Wort Hotel offers the absolute best, whether it be for a company meeting or a secret getaway. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is attractive and comfortable -- and the massive front staircase is a sight to behold. Everything about Jackson Hole and the Wort Hotel is powerfully positive!!!! Enjoy the area's fishing, hiking, skiing, mountain biking -- and gorgeous scenery. And definitely enjoy your stay at the Wort Hotel!!!!

Great location, needs help with service standards
By Heather, 05/20/05
The rooms had a very homey, comfortable feel. The location is just off the square in Jackson. Access to nightlife and shopping is right outside the door. They always have good off-season specials. The service was mixed. In the restaurant, our server was exceptional, he went out of his way to clear up a misunderstanding. The reservations agent was horrible, the person did not give any additional information. It was like pulling teeth to get all the necessary information. The front desk personnel were friendly, but not overly attentive to me. The coolest thing is that the building is a national historic monument.
