The resort is closed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/2/11
Lake Lawn Resort is closed due to bankruptcy (closed in December, 2010). No information at this point as to if it will ever reopen. The kindest thing for it would be to level it to the ground and rebuild it with a more modern place. It is sad but the owners since Anvan lost it were not good hotel people and let it go and ruined it's reputation. Perhaps if a good hotel chain would take it over and rebuild and take advantage of it's possibilities it might be a force to be compared to.

Terminally ill !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/10
Sadly, Lake Lawn is a far cry from what it could be, and used to be. Now, rowdy groups of children loudly race about the hallsway at all hours. The pool is filthy , unsupervised, and monopolized by rude children and their ulcultured parents. Forget about the hot tub, preschoolers and hyperactive kids totally ruin the experience for all. Staff seem unconcerned about these matters. The Frontier restaurant is delicious and still professional, and the updated rooms are a delight. Never stay in the Woodlawn building as it is not a fit place for anything. The siting and the lake are awesome. Years ago adults would find a place of rest and peace here; now the atmosphere is more akin to the Wisconsin Dells, far too many unruly children and their arrogant, enabling, parents. Very sad to see Lake Lawn end this way.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!
By GINA, 4/12/10
LAKE LAWN IS A BEAUTIFUL RESORT, IF YOU ARE CHEAP AND CHOSE TO STAY IN THE WOODLAWN ROOMS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN RENOVATED YOU WILL NOT HAVE A GREAT ROOM! IF YOU PAY FOR THE DELUXE NEWLY RENOVATED ROOMS, YOU WILL ENJOY YOUR BEAUTIFUL ROOMS. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT TO SPEND!!! THE ROOMS ARE REASONABLE, BUT SOME PEOPLE CHOOSE TO BOOK THE CHEAP ROOMS, THEN COMPLAIN ON-LINE. I BRING A GROUP OF WOMEN EVERY YEAR AND WE HAVE A GREAT TIME, IN GREAT ROOMS. THE FOOD AND SERVICE IS ALWAYS GREAT!

Great location and view...disappointing room!
By Brittney, 6/25/09
My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for a weekend to see a concert at the nearby Alpine Valley Theatre. We were lucky enough to get a room with a patio and a beautiful view, but the room in general was pretty disappointing. Our toilet seemed to be clogged from the previous guests that were there, so we had to flush the toilet a few times to fix that. The bathroom door was broken so we had to shimmy and yank it shut every time we needed to use it, and even then it was still hanging crookedly. The glass sliding door to the patio had a broken handle which made it difficult and somewhat painful to have to pull it open by the broken piece still hanging on, and the screen was ripped open so we couldn’t leave the door open at any time due to the bugs. There also was a mysterious sopping wet spot in front of that same door that did not go away and even seemed to enlarge and worsen throughout the weekend, we could not find the source of the leak…it was quite strange. There was no hair dryer (luckily I grabbed my own at the last minute or I would have been very upset), no mini-fridge, and the ice machine in our hall way was broken the whole weekend. One more problem that we had was that when we went down to the pool we weren’t in it for longer than 30 seconds because we found ourselves swimming in filth and cigarette butts…the inside pool was nice though. The plus side to this hotel was that, like I said, it had a beautiful view, the beds were a little small but very comfortable (we had to get a double room as there was nothing else available). I see that there are a lot of good reviews for this hotel and that the rooms were wonderful…which part of the hotel were you staying in? LOL. On a brighter note, I would recommend this hotel to friends, the problems were minor and some of the rooms simply just need some reconditioning. However, It definately wasn't worth the $300 bucks we spent to stay there for a weekend!

Great for families
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/9/07
We stayed during the week of July 4th, 2007. We have a toddler and were very concerned about being far away from fireworks on the 4th as well as spending family time. I stayed at LL as a child with family and looked forward to going with my own family. The rooms are recently remodeled (except the Woodlawn units) & look fantastic. My hubby and I stayed in a King Luxury Lodge in the Timber units with our very active 15 month old. The rooms were very clean (rustic, country decor). They had comfy beds and large, flat panel LG tv's. The bathroom was bright and had a whirlpool tub along with granite and all the small luxuries you would enjoy (i.e. hairdryer, Aveda products, storage for toiletries). We brought our daughter's playpen and it did fit nicely in the room-which also had a safe, microwave and fridge. The micro and fridge were great for us because we had to bring milk for our toddler and Gerber micro meals. There is a mini-bar in addition to the empty fridge for your use. We stored a gallon of milk, bottled water, soda cans and leftovers to give you an idea of how much can fit in the fridge. We were on the main floor and I would highly recommend this to anyone with kids. There were fully locking doors that also had screen doors facing the 'back yard'. There are 2 ample sized wooden rocking chairs on every patio. Our daughter loved running all over the expansive lawn and we were able to sit on the patio or put her toys on the grass and let her have fun without saying "no" all the time. There was no way for her to get into trouble-just wide open space. It had a very friendly atmosphere and many people were sitting outside, enjoying the lawn and patios. We were located very close to both pools as well as the walk along the lake (not too close to put our daughter in danger) but beautiful scenery. There was only a couple of things that I thought could use improvement; the staff (at least during the week and during the summer) seemed to consist of a large number of teenagers working in the restaurants. This would be fine, but there were a few times that they would 'forget' what we ordered or it would take a really long time for our order to arrive. With a fidgety toddler, every minute counts while trying to dine, especially in restaurants. Also, the patios were covered in bugs, so be sure to either buy a bug candle and/or bug spray. This is not the fault of LL-just the way it is, so plan accordingly. Overall, I would say this is a great place to unwind with your family. It's not big for night life but it is clean and affordable without being skimpy.

Love this resort.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/7/07
Lake Lawn Resort has recently undergone a massive rennovation of all thier resort rooms and suites. The rooms are rustic chic and very comfortable. The bathrooms are large and most have deep tubs, some whirlpool. The beds have nice plump comforters. The best thing about LL is that each lodge and common area is connected by heated and air-conditioned walkways. In inclement weather, you need not go outside to dine in the restaurant or take a walk around the resort. Lake Lawn offers only one restaurant. The prices are rather high, and selectios are limited, but the food is very good as is the service. I do wish the deli, which serves ice cream and lighter fare, would be open all the time during the summer months. This resort offers the best view of Lake Delavan in the area. The resorts offers lit walking paths that run the length of the property. The spa boasts rather plain decor (opposed to ultra luxurious) but the services are worth the reasonable prices charged. More spa services have been added as of June 07. We've been coming to LL for over 10 years and will continue to vacation at this resort. We are looking foward to on-going rennovations.

Horrible Experience
The rooms are dirty and highly outdated and the staff is unpleasant at best. What is best is their antique iron ruined my designer outfit. I JUST got it back in December '05 (4 months later) STILL ruined and with no compensation. Stay far far away from this um...'resort'.
