2011 - Feb review. The good and the bad
My kids and I stayed there last week during a trip to Granite Peak ski resort. I read the reviews prior to reserving and knew what to expect (older, etc.). I'm okay with a dated look as long as the staff is customer focused and it is clean.I checked ahead of time to make sure they had a pool and internet connection as well as the distance to the ski resort. Everything seemed to fit the bill.
Good - I was happy with the pool area. The kids enjoyed it, it was roomy, and appeared clean. Our room was a good size and for the most part (see below) was clean and pleasant.
Not so good - No towels at the pool. Front desk said that housekeeping couldn't keep up with the demand. Offered no other help except to say "you can bring them from your room" The internet connection would not work. I checked with the desk and they gave me a phone number for their technical support group. When I called the number, I got a recording that I was calling outside of hours (it was 6pm) and I should leave a message and they would get back to me on the next business day. I called back to the front desk and was told there was nothing else they could do about it. My friends who were staying in the next room had the same problem. This was a huge problem for me as I had work that needed to be completed that night.
When it was bed time, my kids pulled out the sleeper sofa and found dirty sheets and a blood-stained tissue in the bed. I closed the sofa and told the kids to sleep in the bed with me. At this point having clean sheets delivered wouldn't be enough to get me to put my kids on the sleeper, and it was too late to move rooms, so I let it go. I called the hotel two days later to see if they would make it right before I left a review and all I got was "I'm sorry, I wish you had called me that night". As I mentioned, there wasn't anything they could have done that night to fix it, so what's the point.
Any one of these issues would have been fine if the staff had shown a bit more concern and tried a little hard to help. By the time the sleeper sofa was opened, I was already tired of dealing with the front desk, which is why I called back later.
