Chula Vista Resort, Wisconsin Dells

First the room was nasty. The service all over the resort hardly spoke english, understood it worse and there are no managemnet anywhere checking on staff. Food was overpriced and dried out, discusting. The waterpark was overcrowded,freezing and loud. We got the all-inclusive package(what a joke) you pay for a package deal but get less and smaller portions of all little things included. Outside no parking, no one to help direct you to events or facilities, smelled like garbage everywhere and staff smoking everywhere you look. HUGE waste of money. A total JOKE!!!

This is our second year going to the Chula Vista in March. The weather was great! The rooms were clean. The water park was great, my only complaint would be the Market Fresh Restaurant. Last year we went to the Market Fresh Restaurant, which is located next to the hotel. They use to have all you can eat crab legs, which was included in the price of the meal, which is $21.00. This year the buffet was horrible, the waitress said, that they had shrimp and clams, which was not on the buffet. The crab legs was a separate price, and you had to buy the buffet in order to get crap legs, which I thought was unfair. Next year, my family, and I will just go in town to eat. The food is better and cheaper.

We visited Chula Vista with our three kids during spring break. The two bedroom condo was very impressive. We felt right at home with the full kitchen, stocked with dishes, drink ware, eatting utensils and pots and pans. A quick trip to the local Walmart saved us a ton of money in dinning out! Three TVs and a hot tub in our room was also a big hit with the kids. Only thing I can complain about is the King size bed in our master bed room...very uncomfortable! It was very hard and lumpy. I was very pleased to see I could get a Strarbucks Latte without leaving the resort! Water park was great. Kids enjoyed the arcade (the package we purchased included 100 free tokens and 50 free tickets). This provided the children with over an hour of entertainment for our whole family! A summer vacation would be great here...the outdoor water attractions look inviting. The down town area was very quiet...most of the small shops were closed durring the week. Overall, it was a fun trip and a nice place.

Our room was horrible!! the wall paper was falling off the walls and the floor was so dirty that my son had black on the top of his feet (because he crawls). I expected it to be cleaner. We will not be returning to Chula Vista Resort again. I will pay more to stay at a better resort that is cleaner and has better waterpark areas!! Greatly disappointing!!

My husband & I went to Chula Vista with another adult couple for the 3rd time in less than a year & a half over Labor Day Weekend 2011. Although we haven't actually stayed @ any of the other large waterpark/hotels in the WI Dells area, I'm willing to bet that if I did, I would be disappointed as I ALWAYS leave Chula Vista feeling rested, rejuvenated & ready to go back again asap!! :-) Chula Vista is my favorite "staycation get-away." I greatly appreciated Max's help when we checked into our room on Fri, Sept 2, 2011. He immediately gave me a room upgrade upon my checking in, which I greatly, greatly, appreciated. You rock, MAX!! I think the landscaping & the grounds @ Chula Vista are absolutely beautiful. We loved our balcony view of the WI River & that is where we spent most of our time while we were in our room. We love going for long walks on the grounds there in the early morning hours & in the evening. I love the underground tunnel they have so you never have to leave the hotel (especially in the Winter or when it's raining) to move about to different area's of the hotel. I'm glad they have a bar in the hotel, so you don't have to leave the grounds to go enjoy a drink someplace other than just your hotel room. I think most of the interactions I've had with the staff during my last 3 stays at Chula Vista have overall been pleasant. The rooms have always been clean & nicely decorated. Suggestions/Changes you might want to consider: 1. Have MUSIC piped throughout the entire resort (Bar, outside waterpark, indoor waterpark, hallways, elevators, wave pool & especially by the Hot Springs Hot Tub) maybe Country &/or Top 40 2. Have the Hot Springs Hot Tub open until Midnight for sure...do NOT close it @ 10pm that is nuts!! Enforce that you must be 16 & OVER in the Hot Tub. This should be the one place for ADULTS to escape for peace & quiet away from kids while having a drink & relaxing in the Hot Tub or sitting by the fire near the Hot Tub!! 3. Make HUGE Poster Boards in each of the Hotel Check-in area's stating that you have FREE Volleyball, FREE ShuffleBoard & FREE miniture Golf & FREE WiFi (right??). 4. Make HUGE Poster Boards in all Hotel Check-in area's letting people know about what events they can catch right from Chula Vista's boat dock itself. Also let people know that the ducks riding around in the Chula Vista Parking Lot are FREE to get to Downtown Dells & back. These things are like a well kept secret around Chula Vista. These are all considered to be PERK's so make these things well advertised, so everyone knows what Chula Vista really has to offer!! Better MARKETING strategies..... If I can work out a really GREAT room rate.....I hope to be back to Chula Vista for my 4th stay, real soon. Thank you for all of your hospitality. Lots of amenities, good for all ages. Rooms were decent. Food was okay. Most of the lifeguard staff we encountered were rude; their contempt for people and kids was clear. We had one actually yell at our daughter - she's three. Those types of people should not be working in the hospitality sector. Doesn't matter how nice of a place, if any part of the staff is rude, it taints everything else. Will not be repeat customer.

To start off it wasnt that bad. Rooms: The rooms were very well taken care of and were very private. The only thing that wasnt so great was almost every morning i woke up to the sound of the room service and in the rooms they didnt have enoff towels and there were no closets at all! They rooms were also a bit far away from the waterpark thought... Waterpark: The waterpark was alot of fun for everyone even the indoor and out door! Although, it seemed like they never had enough flootys! And out of every single pool there the highest it went was 4"6 and im 5"7! And everytime we walked in we had to talk very very very loud to understand each other. The outdoor water park had like no pool just for swiming only slides! and the wave pool was totally seperate to everything eles there. In my opinion i would not like to visit there again unless I am invited. (ps the food there was way overally priced and not that good plus the service at the resturaunt ws HORRIBLE)

It was kid friendly for our 3 children (6, 7, & 8) However, a bit crowded with guests from other hotels. Most of the time there were no chairs available. Food is very overpriced and not that high quality. All rooms were a bit of a walk from waterpark. When making the reservation, I tried to secure a room close to the waterpark stating I would be 8 months pregnant, and I was told that it could not be done. The staff does not know how to process giftcards. Good luck if you have those. The service at the Sports Bar was not very good. we did not receive our order at once and were constantly wondering where our waitress was. Overall I say it was ok, but I would try somewhere else before returning.

Was just at the Chula Vista Resort for 2 nights. Please do yourself and family a favor. Stay somewhere else. Rooms smell. Beds were absolutely terrible. Shower was clogged. Service was very slow. Takes for ever to get an elevator. Paying a dollar per night is too much for this hotel. Management was unresponsive to calls. I travel often and this was the first time I have ever felt the need to give others a warning on a property. Seriously, don't put your family through what we went through.

We just got back from staying in a 2 bedroom condo. I will admit we are not the picky sort. Room was fantastic with everything in good shape. The jacuzzi worked exactly as expected and everything was clean. The bedrooms were clean and the kitchen stocked with everything we needed. We ate all our meals in the unit. TVs were a little older and small but not what we went for. Internet was slow{think satelite connection} Every staff member we came across was very polite and adressed any questions we needed. Our room was faced towards the back of the property which gave us a great view of the Wisconsin river. As for the reviewer who was upset at facing the parking lot, From what I saw that would be the closet to the park and also would be the room facing the water park, everything else faced the river. The indoor water park was great for slides. Water coaster killed me but only because of my size {6 ft 200lbs} but my 13 year old loved it and kept going back. But there was no real main swimming area or pool. Outside we were given tickets to see a kids magic show. It was a little young for my son. But we went back for the evening show and it was very neat. You get a very up close view of the tigers. The evening performance did cost. I believe 35 for an adult and child. The one complaint I do have was their were lots of unsupervised children running around. I realize this is really more the parents faults but I wish that the lifeguards would have been stricter with the kids in the water park. Outside the grounds were beautiful and th surrounding scenery. A lot more secluded than any of the other big resorts and definitely more scenic. This was a winter visit.
