worst nights stay ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/02/04
please do not think about staying here. The number of things wrong with this hotel are numerous. The main issue is security. If you want to feel safe than don't stay here. The room keys actually have the room numbers etched in them. On top of that the only way to lock the door is with the deadbolt that works with the key that has the number on it. You cannot keep someone out who has a key for that room. If the security issue does not affect you than maybe the freeway noise will. The hotel is very old and the windows are cheap so you can hear absolutely everything that goes on outside. The AC/heater is old too and the one in our room rattled all night. We had to have it on to drown out some of the noise from outside. It also blew the shades open until I put the table against the wall to hold them closed. The beds were the worst that I have ever slept in, (I did not get to sleep), they are like sleeping on rows of metal coils with very thin cloth covering them. There is no cushioning to them. I would have slept on the floor but it was too dirty. I went to the front desk at 2am and got 2 blankets which I folded up and along with the dirty comforter and the blanket from the bed, I slept on all of them above the mattress. It was still almost unbearable. The sheets were paper thin and very coarse too. The light switches are laid out very oddly, and the room is way too small for two beds and a table. The layout of the room makes it very difficult to get in/out of the bathroom, as well as getting in/out of the hotel room. There are really strange cubbyholes and the room is just wrong since they tried to get too much from such a small space. The toilet quit flushing and ran constantly until I turned it off. We could hear everything from all of the adjacent rooms; conversations, tv's, everytime a faucet was turned on, every toilet flushed, everything! The service at night when I went to ask for blankets was bad. The person at the desk was rude. The overall value was terrible. I received a military discount and even with that I feel that anything over say $20 night is too much for this dump.

Nice basic motel, clean, nice pool, sauna, steam room. My only compliant is that it is a bit too close to the freeway so if you are noise sensitive, you might want to reconsider or get a room further away. Within walking distance (really) of historic Officer's row.
