Definitely not a place for the handicapped
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/25/09
Handicapped accessible it is not! The handicapped rooms are a cluster of four rooms, very inappropriately located at least 100 yards down the hall.
This is the first hotel that I have ever stayed at where the handicapped rooms were not somewhere near the lobby. Not only that, but "handicapped accessible" does not fit the reality of the room.
There is no way that a wheelchair could fit through the door of the bathroom; the "handicapped accessible" features are only that there are safety rails around the toilet and bathtub. Yes, BATHTUB. A standard bathtub, no seating in the bathtub, no low entry to the bathtub - and above all, not a walk-in shower!!!
The bed is so high off the ground that my wife could not get into it - instead, I had to ask the night clerk for a rollaway bed. He could not find one and had to call his manager to determine where the rollaways were hidden.
Would I go back to this hotel? Not until the rooms are made truly "handicapped accessible" in both location and features.
