OVERRATED
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/09
Don't waste your money. We got a one bed small room for $350 a night for 3 people. They don't have free breakfast or a pool. and parking is vallet and you have to tip each time. Go to a cheaper hotel pay max $100 for a room with 2 beds free breakfast and a pool and have a blast. I hated the Alexis!

We overpaid
By kymm, 07/24/08
Our stay at the Alexis left us with mixed feelings. While the service was good, the room just didn't justify the price. The staff was able to get us into our room before 10am which was wonderful considering we were up at 4am to catch our flight. But the room was comparable to a Hilton or Sheraton. The room was small and besides not being painted beige we just didn't see what the big deal was. The TV is a great example of what you get at the Alexis. A brand new flat screen tv with limited channels and no way to know what is coming on. Another great example: the shower head. You look at this huge pancake size shower head expecting a great shower, but there's no water pressure. The location is good, but there are other hotels in the same location. Everything is an illusion except the price.

Location location location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/08/07
Virginia to Seattle is a long flight, Alexis takes the edge off. Service has always been great; location is perfect for both business and pleasure trips. Our seventh trip to the area is coming up, and we've already booked the Alexis.

Liars, Liars, Liars
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/02/07
I reserved the honeymoon suite for the night of our wedding 3 months in advance. As soon as we checked in, something didn't seem right. For a honeymoon suite, the room was pretty ordinary. Later at home, I checked the website and figured out that the room we stayed in that night was in fact not the honeymoon suite. We were promised a four poster bed, dual shower head shower and a library of romantic books, and the room had none of that. In addition, I used their car service for the day to take pictures around downtown Seattle before our wedding, and the driver picked us up in a dirty SUV that marked up the front of my white wedding dress. It was filthy. I went into panic mode, but thank God for Tide pens. It saved my dress. I have now called the hotel three times and have yet to speak to an actual manager. I have only been forwarded to voicemail. My advice to any soon-to-be newly weds, don't stay here unless you want to be treated poorly, cheated out of your money and lied to.

A hidden gem. Understated luxury.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/07
We stayed for a week over New Year and were upgraded to a King room (the one in the brochures!) Huge, very comfy bed, french windows, big basket of yummy food and other goodies (with accompanying price list), as well as a mini bar and coffee machine. The bathrobes were funky animal print, and I even succumbed to the oh-so-soft socks that were for sale in the wardrobe. We wanted for nothing - whirlpool bath, hot shower, plenty of Aveda products in the bathroom that were reguarly replaced by housekeeping, and the nightly turndown, and room tidy up with chocolates made it feel extra special. It was great to have two armchairs. Almost every time we wanted a taxi, the doorman offered us the services of one of the hotel's drivers, for not much more than a taxi fare, so we travelled in soft leather seats, in style. This hotel is perfectly positioned for ease of access by foot to all of the Seattle tourist attractions. The bookbar is a lovely bar to pass the time of day, with indie/aor/soft rock/ music playing, as well as lots of magazines, books and tvs to view. A great place to watch the world go by. We had a couple of breakfasts inThe Library Bistro, and found it to be a laid back, chilled out place, where child diners could be kept entertained by drawing on the brown paper tablecloths provided. We managed to catch only one wine reception between 5-6 as we were so busy, and were given a choice of good-quality wines, to sip whilst I painted a postcard. The artwork on the walls was changed whilst we were there, as well as the selection of magazines in our room. Probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in and would definately look to Kimpton when choosing another hotel.

A three star maybe
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/06
The hotel personnel were friendly and accomodating. The rooms, while large, had worn carpets and not enough furniture to make it a comfortable room. The television set was so far from the bed, we had a difficult time enjoying the programs. The pillow-top beds will need to be replaced..it was worn. The meals at the Book Store restaurant on site was marvelous....a 5-star restaurant with a great chef who served the most wonderful, excellently prepared dishes. We were quite impressed.

Never again....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/06
Front desk people not very friendly. Called front desk when we got to room due to odor in room, had to leave voice-msg, never got a response. Room had very noticeable bad odor. Bought candles/burned them while there to help w/that. Computer hook-up nowhere near desk (where it should have been) had to request long cord than ran through middle of room the whole time we spent there. Furniture worn out, chipped. Carpet should have been replaced many, many years ago. Chips in bathroom tile floor. Black mold in sink and sink-stopper. Shower hot/cold constantly, couldn't maintain good water temp. Room hadn't been cleaned thoroughly. Paid $375 a night for all that luxury! First-time Kimpton visitors. Won't-be-soon-forgotten bad first impression. But the doormen were very nice-gotta give credit where it's due...

Huge Rooms, Great Value
By RAOR, 04/26/06
What I liked the best was how close this hotel is from Pike Market and it is centrally located near all. If you want to have fun on a Friday and Saturday night at a bar or club this is walking distance to the hip local bars and restaurants. I woke up early, went out to do the sightseeing and shopping (All within walking distance) and returned at about 5pm just in time for the complimentary glass of wine the hotel offers in the lobby. At night you can walk to very expensive restaurants or try a local hangout. Expensive and classy is the way to go, the best food I ever tried. You have to spoil yourself. I took two hundred photos and it is a very memorable beautiful city and the Alexis Hotel made it a wonderful and pleasant stay.
