think twice before staying here
By tiffanyd, 08/31/08
i would not recommend this hotel at all. not only is it in the middle of now where, the pool was green the door did not shut unless u slammed it closed and to top it off i found a roach in the morning in the bathroom. i would not go back its not worth the money. you might as well spend the money on a better chosen hotel

Don't Even Think of Staying Here
By ctd341, 09/11/07
I stayed at this place when it was a Best Western and it wasn't THAT bad. I even brought my regional manager and one of our tech reps here once. Now that it's a Howard Johnson's, however, it's like your pulling into downtown Tijuana. I'm glad I was armed. Really. There are "people" here who look like they've been living here for some time and watched me as I got out of the car like they were looking at "fresh meat" or something. Bed sheets feel like they've been drenched in oil and there are flies in the room that follow me wherever I go. My right hand hurts from trying to smack the little buggers. The "breakfast" makes me want to puke and they serve something that looks like orange juice but it's warm and tastes like dish water. Speaking of water; I was really stupid for not buying bottled water at the store before I got here. Every time I turn on the faucet, the smell of metal sulfides saturates the room. I had to drink some of the stuff and it tasted like I was sucking on an old penny that had been inside of a shoe for about 6 months. Spend the extra money and go to the Hampton a block away.

Is it Steven Kent or Steven King?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/25/07
After a recent trip to Fla. my wife and I chose this Best Western to stay the night before heading back to NY...Big mistake! We were dead tired and would have settled for just about any decent clean motel(there were two or three other choices across the street) but having stayed at other Best Westerns in the past and treated well, we picked this one. First off we were "greeted" by a desk clerk that didn't seem to want to be bothered with us. The first room we were sent to was still occupied by other guests (wife noticed luggage on the floor and unmade beds) and after a small argument at the front desk (didn't believe us) we were sent to another room...No HEAT in this one!...early march in VA. no heat, bad thing! when we got to the 3rd! room (yeah I know we should have left this place by now ,but we were really too tired to drive now) the all over cleanliness (or lack of) was less than adequate, but we stayed anyway. the restaurant was really bad as well. I guess I've said enough.... Don't stay here! it's really bad!!!

Much has changed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/06
From what I've read from the other two reviews, the hotel has changed a lot under the new management. I stayed there twice in the past two months and didn't have any problems. There were tons of towels, clean furniture, and good customer service. I definitely plan to stay there again.

Don't Stay Here!
By CHARLES, 09/13/06
Why didn't I read the reviews before I went! I picked this hotel because of all the "amenities" it listed for the price. And since I am not a hard to please person I didn't think to read the reviews first. Tennis, basketball, and rec. area were cover with high weeds. Putting green was covered in grass. There was old furniture and a dirty mattress outside our room. Some kind of brown liquid dripped from the roof outside our room. Pool was dirty with glass around it for 2 days. I even took pictures to show my friends how bad things were. Room was old and dirty. Beds didn't get made so I guess there was no maid service. Only 2 towels in the room. Made reservations on line and when I got there they couldn't find them. Now I just got my bank statement and found out that I had been charged for 4 days instead of 2. Tried to call the hotel and they said they couldn't help me, they were too busy. Tried to call the main customer service line and they suggested that I should wait and call back to the hotel later when they are not busy! They should at least apologize for all my trouble!. They need to clean up that place or level it to the ground and quit false advertising! Will never stay at a Best Western again. Next time I will go across the street and pay the extra 20 dollars for the Holiday Inn. You get what you pay for!!!

Awful......
By The Divine Ms. M, 07/14/05
We went and stayed July 05. It was just terrible. First of all, the pull-out bed was dirty (and that is where our son was supposed to sleep). When we arrived there were only 2 towels in the room. It was late in the night when we arrived and when we called to get more towels it took forever for someone to answer. We were told they didn't have any but could go into another room and get some. The next day they were supposed to come and clean, well all they did was make the bed. They didn't pick anything up, change the sheets, and there was a cigarette butt in the toilet! When my husband called to the desk to complain they came to inspect the room to make sure we were telling the truth, which annoyed me (why they just couldn’t take our word for it I’ll never know). So they confirmed our issues and offered us a 20%discount on our stay, which in my opinion wasn't much by way of compensation! Won’t stay here again! And I don't advise you do either. The location is the only thing this place has going for it, it's right off I-95.
