Great Customer service in the heart of Alexandria
By KEN, 7/29/08
Well how about an update from 2008. I must tell you that this was the best customer service at a hotel my wife have had in a very long time. We always try to do something special for our anniversary and old town Alexandria was the choice this year. The staff was excellent, helpful, professional, and overall great. If you enjoy vintage hotels and decor than this is the place for you. The hotel itself was warm and inviting. I also enjoyed getting the free cup of coffee in the morning and sitting out front. The rooms are very nice, quiet, and romantic. I will say though that it is an older area in the heart of town so looking out your window you are apt to see a house being renovated or an office building so if you like spectacular views it won't be here. We didn’t eat at the hotel because there are many shops and restaurants around the corner within walking distance. Overall a very good place to stay and I would definitely would go again.

Not what it used to be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/22/07
Morrison House changed ownership in Fall of '06. It was privately-owned now it is a Kimpton property. It seems as though every week there is a new cost- cutting measure that the wonderful employees have to deal with. The staff is outstanding. I cannot say the same for the management at this time. If you are going to Morrison House to enjoy the piano bar on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, be forewarned that the singing, which a couple of years ago started at 8 pm, then got pushed back to 9:30 pm, now does not begin until 10:00 pm. Since everything closes up at midnight, that gives you a mere two hours to enjoy the great singing and great pianist. There is overall, a general decline in elegance in the public spaces. I cannot speak to the rooms because I haven't stayed at the hotel since before the new management.

Planning our second stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/22/07
My husband and I stayed at the Morrison house to celebrate our anniversary. It was the most wonderful place we have ever stayed and we travel frequently. The rooms are quiet. And the staff is wonderful, we had champagne and strawberries delivered shortly after our arrival. What a surprise, I had just mentioned upon check in that it was our anniversary. We are planning a return trip to bring our children, and one alone again for our next anniversary. It is so convenient for the metro and to D.C. for sightseeing.

Don't miss the piano bar
By adria, 3/12/07
We just returned from our second visit to Morrison House. Our room was wonderful, with a four poster, king size bed. Room 303 is on the corner and lovely. The food in the dining room is delicious but the highlight of our stay was the piano bar. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at 9:30pm, the piano player begins playing Broadway show tunes and old classics. Apparently it is a gathering place for locals, who take their singing very seriously. The entertainment was wonderful and singing along with some of the songs was great fun. After having so much fun on Friday night, we returned on Saturday after the theater but the bar was packed with barely a place to stand. The place was alive with singing and laughter. Next time we will make a reservation on Saturday night in the bar dining room to assure a great seat. Don't miss it.

The best place on EARTH!
By HappyCustomer, 11/23/05
First class charm with first class hospitality! Not only is Morrison House a lovely building, the staff is wonderful! From the moment of your arrival, the best description of the service is attentive, friendly, efficient, and ATTENTIVE! We were lead directly to our room (and checked in at our covenience). NOTE: we requested an early check-in at the last minute and the concierge did everything he could to make certain we could be accomodated. When we needed directions, a taxi, extra towels, suggestions on where to eat etc... the concierge took care of everything (making phone calls, printing out directions, making reservations etc...) We were attended to when we had need, and were left alone when we so desired. Our room was clean and quiet and gorgeous. A true find in Virginia!

Luxury at its Finest
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/05
A truly incredible experience. We were greeted in the lobby w/wine; taken to our room where the check-in paperwork was awaiting us. Within an hour of our check-in, the entire staff somehow knew our names. Absolute top-notch service, beautiful rooms--will always stay here when in D.C. Only complaint was the bar--it's obviously only for locals. Very minor complaint; able to find alcohol elsewhere!

Wow - what a place!!! I recently found this gem in Old Town Alexandria & can't stop talking about it. The hotel is incredible & their restaurant is is exquisite. Overall stellar service ! Check out Morrisonhouse for a menu listing. And yes there are over 1200 varieties of wine available on their wine menu.
