Dirty dancing relieved
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/07
Pros: Great staff, excellant service, good food in the dining room. The staff was willing to help any way possible. If you are looking for a relaxing time, this is the place. I am writing this from a may prospective before memorial day. Also the resort contributes to scholarship funds and enviroment programs which is a plus. The resort is beautiful and relaxing. The staff was friendly and willing to make you feel at home. If you like to watch television be sure to specify this because some rooms have television and some don't. Some of my recommendations to the hotel woudl be keep the place like the movie. That is what alot of people come to see is the dirty dancing film locations. You may want to put up markers around the property to show where various film locations occured. Also put these locations on the maps. If you want more excitement go after memorial day through labor day. They offer more night activities. Some examples of entertainment includes movie night, karoke. Also more day activites such as mountain biking and volleyball open around these dates. Cons: The lake has lost some of its water level. This is due to lack of rain and the lake being a natural lake. My recommendation would to be to fill the lake with more water by trucking it in from surrounding places. I know the lake is a natural lake but this would improve the beauty. also another option would be to move the beach and gazebos closer to the lake water level. However don't let this discourage anyone from visiting because the lake is fully operational and beautiful. The lake offers alot of activites such as kayaking, canoes, pontoon boat tours, and fishing. Recommendations would be to add a mini golf place and water slides for families. Be sure to check on the package deals for those on a budget. This will help with costs because it includes first class dining, breakfast, most activities such as kayak. The cost is around $160 for 2people . Additional people are around $55.00. This is one of the best deals. PS. The dining staff are great!!!!! Mountain lake thanks for your great hospatility.

Love it!

We go back every summer, and the occasional fall. This is a wonderful getaway in the hot summer months. The new Blueberry Ridge is really wonderful - you are not tied to the dining hall. Try the Chicken Box Lunch and the hike to Bald Knob. A memorable experience!
