Clean and new paint smell
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/11
The hotel was clean looked like new fixtures in bath room and new bedding, towels were nice clean white and bright, breakfast was ok, I would stay here again, it is obvious that it is under renovations and new management

a dump -- stay away
By pinkpagoda, 10/30/08
front desk unhelpful and unpleasant; they also often don't answer the phone. bedding was stained, carpet wasn't clean. rooms and baths are old with bad furnishings and in desperate need of renovation. rates are very high for what you get.

what a dump!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/08
dirty, smelly and it had at least two kinds of bugs in the bathroom. i was informed that although the facility is sprayed weekly that there really wasn't anything that could be done about the problem. there was hair in the tub and a musty smell. the staff was indifferent to my complaint. stay somewhere, anywhere else. sleep in your car or in the woods, but not here.

Paid too much for very little
By Highland, 8/25/08
For $120 per night (double), I would expect cleanliness, at least. The place is shabby and the housekeeping non-existent. No hair dryer, but a microwave! Go figure. The desk clerks let their fat children hang around the lobby and eat the guests' breakfast items. The location was convenient enough, but that's the only thing going for it.

Not as bad as everyone makes it out to be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/23/08
The price you cant beat it in c'ville that town has over priced hotels and thats that, This hotel is a good one, you pay for what you get really , come on people me and my husband come to va to see fam alot and we have stayed here many times many, and I have had no problem with it its very easy to get in and out of on 29 b/c there is a light right there to let you in and out You are close to everything in town and if you are there for a concert you can walk right to it and not worry about parking at all im shure they are loving that new stadium anyway dont lison to the idiots who posted all these bs statements if you wanted to stay at the best place in town than you are ganna have to fork out some $ and drive yr self up to the Double Tree if not and you just want a place to lay yr head with good service than stay here

Help needed with customer service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/23/06
The rooms are ancient, and poorly kept. I got a non-smoking room that smelt like smoke. There was hair all over the sink. The maid forgot to give me towels. The worst part, of course, was the service at the front desk. It was fine at check-in, but at check-out, a price discepancy lead to a front desk clerk actually yelling at me when I asked for a phone number to complain about the derogatory tone I was spoken to, BY A MANAGER!!! If you can afford it, avoid Econo Lodge. Not until these people get some additional training in customer service.

I'd rather sleep in my car
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/12/06
Unfortuanetly, we chose this hotel because it was inexpensive and close to the UVA medical center. The rooms were a total wreck. My sister had to move from her room to another room because the mildew odor was so foul. The room my husband, my twins toddlers and I stayed in also smelled. We got dirty feet/socks from walking on the floor. There curtain rod had broken away from the wall. There were toenails clippings and large screws between the nightstand and bed. There were large bugs flying around and small ones in the tub. And to top it off my toddlers got ahold of business card for a bail bondsman which solidified the skid row appeal. This place makes you want to go home and scrub yourself with a brillo pad. So please run, don't walk, to anyplace else!

meh...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/22/06
For 65 bucks the door could have atleast locked well (the door jamb was shattered and the door easily could have been pushed in w/ a shoulder). Bathroom was dirty and the water was cold early in the am. Employees were topnotch... Pool looks like a pudddle...

Worst Hotel Ever
By Kelly, 1/5/06
This hotel is unclean, the staff is unfriendly and outright rude and I would not recommend it to anyone. The Red Roof Inn down the street is a much better value and is a much better place to stay.

Be Careful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/05
I was visiting Charlottesville for the UVA v FSU game in 2005, and my room (reserved via credit card) was sold from under my feet. They had no room for me at 3 a.m. on a game weekend. Bad. Very bad.
