Terrible Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/22/09
I stayed in this hotel whenever my school group went on a trip to Williamsburg. From the outside, it looked normal. Inside was horrifying. I've stayed in some gross hotels, but this was by far the worst. The door and walls both had holes in them, and the room just really didn't look clean at all. We found garbage behind the cabinet, and the comforter looked dingy. In a meeting room downstairs where we ate, we found a dead cockroach behind a chair that stayed there for 3 days. The receptionist was very short with us, and the maid was downright rude. I felt really unwanted in this hotel. When we came back after the first day, our room was only half cleaned. One bed was done, and the bathroom still looked dirty, but the maid had obviously been gone for hours. Also, when we went to the vending machines, we received products that were expired. Overall, this place really isn't a good place for anyone to stay. i don't think it deserves the 3 stars it receives in ratings at all. It made my entire trip a lot worse.

Pleasantly surprised
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/11/08
We were just at the Patrick Henry for the Grand Illumination. I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the other reviews but the price ($64) was much better than other places so we took a chance. I think they have done some work because we found our room to be clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was fine and everyone was really friendly. The General Manager had a reception on Sunday with Cider,Egg Nog,Chocolate treats and cookies that we enjoyed just prior to walking across the street to the Grand Illuminatin festivities. This hotel's location is the best and we will return again next year.

A truck stop hotel might have been better!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/08
I bought the vacation deal at a Bass Pro Shop and I can honestly say that my stay at this hotel ranks up there with some of my worst stays. Shortly after we checked into our rooms I found a bag filled with brown dirty, stinking underwear behind the refrigerator. I brought it to the attention of the Assistant Manager and all he said was sorry. Thanks! That is all the desk clerks could say also. I asked the Assistant Manager and the desk clerk to have all our linen changed in our room and he and the desk clerk assured me it would be done. When we returned to our room nothing had been changed and all I got once again is “I’m sorry” again go figure. The ground of the hotel was always dirty and I witnessed the same piece of trash in the exact same place in the middle of the floor for 2 and half days. The bathroom is like being in a coffin and there is no ventilation. The walls were all cracked and the furniture was all scratched. I was afraid to walk around in the room without slippers on. Needless to say if I go back to Williamsburg this will be the last place I stay. If Bluegreen’s resorts are like their hotels I would never buy time share from them. The house keeping of this hotel was awful. Several of the desk clerks were nice but overall the costumer service stinks. If you buy the vacation from a Bass Pro and want to go to Williamsburg and Bluegreen books you at this hotel, well GOOD LUCK and I warned you.

Do not stay here.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/08
The hotel is in a great location, but the place is a dump. It sorely needs renovation. The hotel also lacks any kind of security. You wouldn't think that you would need security in Williamsburg, but remember, this is a tourist town. My kids were physically threatened by other guests children when they went to get a soda from the soda machine. Learn from my lesson - spend the extra money to stay at a decent hotel.

Gloomy but great location
By Florence, 5/14/08
We stayed there early May 2008. Hotel is in huge need of renovation. Carpets are sticky, gross. Rooms are outdated. Corridors are in disrepair. Sheets were clean, but kept slipping off, exposing the mattress! However, the location is fantastic, as you can walk half a block and you're right in Colonial Williamsburg. I would still suggest finding a more modern place.

Continental Breakfast
By Jennifer, 3/19/08
The following is an online definition of Continental Breakfast from Wikipedia: Continental breakfast Continental breakfast is an institutional meal plan based on lighter Mediterranean breakfast traditions. It is a light meal meant to satisfy one until lunch. A typical Continental breakfast consists of coffee and milk (often mixed as Cappuccino or latte) or hot chocolate with a variety of sweet cakes such as brioche and pastries such as croissant, often with a sweet jam, cream, or chocolate filling. It is often served with juice. The continental breakfast may also include sliced cold meats, such as salami or ham, and yogurt or cereal. Some countries of Europe, such as The Netherlands and those in Scandinavia, add a bit of fruit and cheese to the bread menu, occasionally even a boiled egg or a little salami. The Continental Breakfast concept is not limited to Europe, as evidenced by the numerous hotel chains that offer this service worldwide

Dump
By charlie b, 7/22/07
Whatever the minimum requirement for "Continental Breakfast" is, I still don't think they met it, it was horrible. Best Western should demand that their name be taken off this listing to avoid embarassment to my chain. This is not a Best Western property. This is a Dump!

Yuck - what happen to a great hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/28/06
What happen to a great hotel - I have stayed a number of times at this hotel and my stay this Sept 2006 was awful - After a 4 hour ride to the hotel -at check in - I had to stay and listen to a timeshare talk - just what I wanted to do - When I finally got to my room - the toilet was broken - I was moved to another room - it was dirty and the furniture was damaged - there were tons of cobwebs on the window. The sheets and blankets look very old and had holes in them - The breakfast was gross - the flies where everywhere. I woould never stay at this hotel again - it wasn't worth the money - I couldn't wait to get home and take a real shower!

Isn't all what you think
By RhondaR, 8/31/06
The place was bearable. What they are not telling you is that it is no longer called Best WEstern it was sold to Bluegreen which is a time share/vacation share and it is under renovation. So they will try to convince you to buy vacation share under pressure. The room we stayed in was cleaned. There were vacationers who had molded rooms with fouled smells. Let's hope you luck up and get a nice room. The place is okay to just sleep. Complimentary breakfast was relocated in another area due to a flood inside the hotel. Not much to do at the hotel but Williamsburg, VA is okay. May be a little boring for the kids.
