Beautiful!!
A beautiful lodge with beautiful grounds and friendly staff. Stayed in the Tyrol Suite, large balcony. We saw deer eating apples in the field right outside our balcony. It was a vacation to remember. Can't wait to go back! I recommend staying in one of the rooms in the Millenium wing which was recently added.

Not quite what I had hoped for
By Bryan, 9/23/09
Had always wanted to visit Stowe and stay at the Trapp Family Lodge. The staff was helpful, the views stunning. The property looks as you'd guess; very alpine... The rooms however, left alot to be desired. It seemed to me that they had redone everything about 20 years ago and it hasn't been updated since. The bathrooms was more akin to a Motel 6 than the upscale hotel I was hoping for. The beds were satisfactory, but no "heavenly bed". I think in the end you're paying for the opportunity to visit history more than visit high end resort.

Very disappointed!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/09
We were so looking forward to our trip, but were very disappointed. We chose to go there on an Interval International exchange. We had given up our beautiful Marriott timeshare in Florida for, in our opinion, a dump. The blankets had animal fur on them, there were dirty Klennex at the head of our bed, the pans were dirty and the bathtubs need to be replaced. In addition the guest room beds were so short my sister, who is 5'2" had her feets hanging off the bed. We stayed one night. When we checked out the girl at the desk was made aware that we were upset and had only stayed one night. She could have cared less. We ended up staying at a nice, clean Courtyard hotel in Willistin where we were treated like welcome guests. We plan on returning there in June.

Great Place!!!
By Moose, 1/8/09
If you are looking for rest, relaxation, peace, and solitude, this is the right place. The folks at the lodge are very helpful, and the restaurant is also very nice...teh chef knows what he/she is doing! It was a little pricey, but we will go back on of these days for another stay.

Would Not Go Back
By s f, 12/17/07
The good: clean, fun Trapp Family kitsch everywhere The Bad: no room service, having to walk across the unshoveled parking lot to go swim in the very cold pool, the unwillingness of the staff to help someone with food allergies find something to eat. My husband had to go food shopping and this after our meals were included in the price. I would not go back. I guess if you are a big walker/x country skiier and do not mind not having any type of room service then this is the place for you.

Howie and Susie Love the Trapp
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/11/07
This is truly a place of relaxation. Peaceful and enjoyable. Staff is wonderful and villas are spacious. The Tea Room and Lodge are places to experience. Plan on going back for the third time.

Very nice room with a great view
By Jude, 10/27/07
The room was very spacious with 2 very generous beds. The beds were quite hard, however so not very comfortable for me. But our room had a balcony and the view overlooking the valley was breathtaking. We had not originally intended to stay the night, but as we arrived late we decided to chance finding a room and they were able to accommodate us. This was in the summer - rather off-season for the area, however - if going there during ski season I would recommend a reservation.

Perfection!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/05
We visited the Trapp Family Lodge with another couple in June of 2005, stayed for three nights, and found it to be all that we hoped for and more. One of our group pointed out that she would not change a thing if she owned the Lodge herself. We stayed in the Salzburg suites, which I believe are mid-priced rooms for the Trapp Family. They were beautiful, extremely comfortable, and would be great in winter as they are ground level with cross country ski trails right outside the doors. We experienced both warm and cool, rainy weather, and found it easy to adjust to each with the digital climate control. The outside pool was clean and private, the flower gardens were breathtaking, and the staff from the front desk to the restaurant to housekeeping were eagerly hospitable. We run our own business and can take few vacations, but we would not hesitate to spend more of our precious days off at the Trapp Family Lodge!

Beware in Warm Weather
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/05
We had prepaid reservations at the Trapp Family Lodge in June. It just happened to be one of those steamy summer weekends that you can get in VT: 85 degrees and very humid. We checked in and went to our room on the 3rd floor. We were very surprised to find NO AIR CONDITIONING in our room, only a small table fan. When I had viewed their web site I gave no thought to whether they had AC; for the price they charge I expected AC. Turns out MOST of their rooms have no AC unless you pay for top of the line. We turned right back around and went back to the desk. All we got was a sorry and NO refund. No AC is not a big deal in Fall, winter, spring but summer in VT can bring some hot humid days and you can't plan on the weather. We went to the Golden Eagle and had a great cool room for much less and it included a great breakfast.

felt like home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/3/05
My wife and I had a wonderful stay. The room (salzburg suite), bathroom (and entire lodge) was clean and well kept, while the furniture and decor felt solid and comfortable. It truly felt like a home away from home. The staff was helpful and the activities for this time of year (Feb 2005) were plentiful. The family photos found throught the lodge were great to look at. The only aspect we weren't crazy about, but were able to deal with was having to bundle up before heading across the street to use the fitness center. Probably not an issue in non winter months. Minor detail. Can't wait to visit again.
