The North Hero House, North Hero

It was almost impossible to convince my girlfriend this was a good idea. I made the mistake of mentioning hiking in nature and I almost missed it. But we made it up to North Hero House and I was able to get her to loosen up. I had a great time and she did too. We didn't get to do everything, but it felt good to breath the fresh air and relax for awhile..Saw some cool old cars and had old fashion conversations, face to face. Definitely my kind of thing.

Honestly I really, really wasn't expecting much from a bed and breakfast. My parents used to bring me to them as a kid and I've never gone back voluntarily as an adult. My girlfriend convinces, or coerced, me into going this time and I gotta say... I've changed my tune :). Alright maybe I'm not going to go every month for the rest of my life but I'd consider going every year. The food was just delicious, I mean compared to what my girlfriend and I normally cook for ourselves it was a real change. Plus I've never slept so well in my life. Sleep! Can you imagine loving a good night's sleep?? So weird. Anyways, give this place a go and if you're on the fence just give them a call. Very friendly people.

I was so impressed with the accommodations and the selection of meals offered at the North Hero House. Not only was it spectacular to wake up to the sound of water lapping below my window, but a gorgeous sunrise over Lake Champlain began each day of my stay. I enjoyed the variety of breakfast items, but the French toast was particularly tasty, moist on the inside, with a light crunch on the outside. The bacon was cooked flawlessly. I also enjoyed several evening meals, including the French dip, a garlic roll layered with pieces of prime rib, au jus on the side, with an enormous amount of seasoned French fries that were cooked to absolute perfection. (I’m still dreaming about those fries!) I also enjoyed the Bistro steak that was seared with a robust marinade and was so tender and juicy inside! This was accompanied by mashed potatoes with a hint of goat cheese that was absolutely marvelous! I wish I had the time to try all the wonderful offerings. The staff was so eager to please – always asking how everything was and if anything else was needed. I love a restaurant that keeps my water glass full. I slept soundly each night surrounded by charming decorations, soft pillows, and smooth sheets. I look forward to returning.

I stay in one of the rooms over the lake and can't imagine a more relaxing, inviting comfortable place on earth. The prices have gone up in the past few years but for my husband and I still worth it. If you are looking for cable tv, business amenties and a chain hotel, this will not be for you. Very much about a cabin on the lake with a view and a good dining experience each and every day. The staff could not be more helpful or the facilities nicer.

I was expecting a 4 or at least 3 star amenities, but what I experienced was well below that. The food was ok, but at NYC prices. The lake is beautiful, but I didn't need to pay this much for a view I could experience for much less. Next time I might consider a different place to stay.

Location is breath taking; Inn is friendly and yet very lovely, well kept, clean. Beds are comfortable, luxurious linens. Restaurant has delicious gourmet meals and great wine list; views of the lake and mountains from your seat. Great Sunday brunch. Fun shopping right down the street at Hero's Welcome. Hot tub under the stars!I'll keep coming back.
