Just back from our stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/15/12
Just returned from a stay at the Stagecoach Inn--a place we have visited off and on for 35 years. Room was clean but the Spa was not working although we called before leaving on our trip to make sure it was operating. Leaves on the tarp indicated that it probably has not been turned on for a while. Did not bother eating in the restaurant because the food was so bad last time we visited about a year ago. This was always a relaxing stop on I-35. Too bad it's going down hill.

Won't stay here again.
By Patricia, 11/8/11
Although our room was clean, the whole facility is very dated and very much in need of a facelift. There were small tears in the bedspread. All of the mirrors had areas where the silvering was off the back. There were several areas of peeling wallpaper in our room. Ate at the restaurant for lunch and couldn't understand why we were seated in a very out of the way location even though the dining room was not full. The water carafe on the table had bad mineral deposit stains and the silverware was not clean. Although the food was okay it was not any better than what you would get at a sandwich shop. We asked around in Salado for recommendations on places to eat and no one recommended the Stagecoach Inn. Will not be back.

Soul-less Food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/10
Believe all the bad reviews on the food, unbelievably it really is that bad! Went to the stagecoach inn for my Father in Law's birthday. After reading the bad reviews on the food, when the waitress listed off the menu (there are no written menu's, so a quick monotone recital is all the meal planning you get) I ordered what I thought was the safest, the Rib-Eye steak. The hush-puppies were ok at best and the salad was wilted day old lettuce with industrial grade dressing. When the "entree" came, you could see from 10 feet away the broccoli was overboiled mush. The mashed potato's were straight out of a box and stone cold. The Rib-Eye, (one thing no chef worth their pay could possibly mess up) was a flavorless, soul-less, cold and dried out piece of mystery meat. I couldn't identify it as even being a Rib-Eye. The only way the steak could have been this bad is their "chef" took a freezer-burned, still frozen piece of meat and slapped it on a grill. Add a little salt and pepper, and voila! The dessert choice was another "no brainer", peach cobbler. I've never had peach cobbler that was sour! The crust was soggy and tasted old. The ice cream was probably store brand/generic. Stagecoach Inn makes Luby's look like a 5 star gourmet experience. Avoid at all costs! I only gave it the one star rating because the site wouldn't let me leave a no star rating.

UP'S/DOWN'S
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/10
Okay from what i have read its about 50/50 Yes its not as good when its was in the past and the decor needs updating to fit the historical venue. Never have stayed at the motel. But i have heard about its okay. Yes there people that want to ?? about stuff i should know use to work in retail. But when i have always eaten there the food was good and the service as well. Been eating there all my 43 years of life since i have family that grew up in the area. Should say something about the waitstaff thats been there so long and the place stay is still in business.Since alot of business cant last 5 years. Yes the ownership needs to UPDATE and IMPROVE it has the the deal to be a realy AWESOME place to be.

Horrible Do Not Stay There
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/09
The room smelled like mold, and was cold(heater did not work)we tried to get another room but there were'nt any and the front desk person said the others were just as bad, WOW! The restaurant was just as bad, took way to long to get our food (almost an hour) and when we finally did the food was cold. After the bad meal we decided to go upstairs to the club/bar for some drinks before we went back to our room this was not any better infact it was the worst yet to happen. When we ordered our drinks the guy behind the bar was very hateful to our server, we could here him yelling at her and it continued for a while so we asked her if he was having a bad day she replied no he is my boss and he is always like this. WOW! So the head bartender yelled and argued with his staff the entire time we were there (about 30 mins) we went outside to get away from that scene then our server started crying out on the balcony near us thats when we paid up we had to leave could'nt witness any more. WOW! NOT VERY FUN AT ALL LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKE....DO NOT STAY THERE

Salado's Pride
By Jenn, 12/19/08
I have been to the Stagecoach Inn several times, and each time was very enjoyable. The Inn is in a great and easy to find location and has plenty of parking. The pool was awesome and so was the walking. There are some nooks and hidden areas along the walking path that leads from the hotel to the resturant, to the main street. The Inn's resturant has a romantic and nostolgic atmosphere and the food is very good. I would recomment this place to anyone looking for adventure or a romantic getaway.

Nice Studio Rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/29/07
I stayed there in June 2007 for a conference and it was very nice. I stayed in a studio suite which was located away from the other rooms and was in duplex facility with 5 other rooms. My room had a spacious closet, mini kitchen complete with mini refrigerator. The bathroom was large and had a separate place for the sink and vanity. The bed was a comfortable king. I had a patio to walk out on, cable tv with over 60 channels, couch, and a seperate dining table area with four chairs. This was very reasonable and comfortable for my needs. This would be perfect for a three person (Mom, Dad & baby/toddler)family who needed extra space. I will definetly stay there again in the future.
