Holiday Inn Houston - Reliant Park, Houston

My daughter is an MD Anderson Patient & we have been staying at this hotel since December 2010. I call the last minute to get my reservation, because we don't always know when we have to be back to MD Anderson. We have stayed here during the Rodeo & othe events. We are ALWAYS given a room. We have had to extend our stay by 5 or 6 weeks & the hotel works with us on our check out dates. They have given us late check outs to help us when we know we will be able to leave after we finsih at the hospital. The staff is very professional & treat us like we are family. They are caring & I feel my children are fine when they come without me. I trust the staff & the management will look out after my daughter & her family. This hotel staff has gone above & beyond in working with us on last minute reservations & we usually don't know what day we will be checking out. I give a tentative date & have had to change it many times & we are always allowed to change our check out date. They understand the problems of a patient at MD Anderson & how sick people can't predict how they are going to feel & if we need the room for extra days or weeks.. I NEVER worry about having to check out until we feel my daughter is up to the ride home. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially an MD Anderson Patient because the management does understand what we are going through. The hotel is clean & the shuttle buses are always there to help us get around.. We feel fortunate to have found such a good hotel during these rough times. This hotel is our home away from home & the staff makes us feel at home. We made our reservation for this trip on Monday & the Rodeo is all this week. Our reservation is from Monday through Friday, but we might need to stay longer is my daughter doesn't do well after her chemo. I stay at this hotel all the time. I am an MD Anderson Patient. There are a lot of medical patients that stay here. I called to get reservations for my next visit and was told they would not honor the medical rate because the Rodeo was in town. I would have to pay full price, which was over $200 a night!! I am so mad at this hotel and will never stay there again!! When a Rodeo becomes more important then Cancer patients that are there trying to save their lives, it's BS! NEver again will I stay here!! There are other hotels that actually CARE about their customers!

Good variety of services and support for the out of town traveler. The relaxing lobby has a on-line computer w/printing capabilities for easy use. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room was not large, but more than adequate with appropriate updates and clean. Small refrigerator was great for the late night thirst. Don't depend on getting any bargains from the gift shop--believe it was contract, very limited hours and minimal pricey merchandise. Think they were transitioning out--but they needed to move on and let some innovative contract move into thier spot.
