This is my home away from home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/19/11
I stay at this hotel an average of 25 nights per year. I stay at other hotels across the US another 75. The staff here is impeccable, consistent and always friendly. Room service is very well priced, parking is a little expensive (always self park). If you travel to Houston on business or a big shopping trip to the Galleria, this is your place. Don't bring your family. Bar is so-so. Restaurant is good as well. Ask for a corner room on a high floor. Bring your own booze as it is expensive to buy.

They Steal your Stuff!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/15/10
I left three pairs of shoes in the closet by mistake when we checked out. I called the hotel. They returned one pair. My daughters very worn pair of slip on shoes. My rather expensive shoes were never found. I received no compensation or apology from the hotel for their employees stealing my things. I even had to pay $18.00 for shippingNot sure I want to return to a hotel where they will actually steal your shoes!!!!

Very Nice Place - Everything is close by
By Janie M, 7/16/09
My husband took me there for our anniversity and it was really nice hotel. The staff was friendly and so were the other guess staying there. The only bad review was the parking first of all we had to pay $16 just to park than only one elevator was working so we stood in the heat waiting to use one elevator. Now the hotel did take out $60 dollars extra out of my account and stated they would put it back in our account but its been about 3 weeks and nothing yet.

Stuffy Rooms, Poor Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/2/09
If you're thinking about this hotel be sure to bring plenty of money for taxis-it's a long way from everything except for the Galleria Mall, which is a ten minute walk down dark streets. But the worst part about this hotel is the ventilation system. The rooms smell dank and stale. Not too conducive to a good night's sleep. Houston has many alternatives.

Poor service, strange odors, to far from the fun.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/15/09
I have visited many hotels on business, and found the Intercontinental in Houston to be the least enjoyable. To start with, finding help in the hotel reminds me of episodes in some of the big hardware chain stores, where all the employees seem to be busy. Second, several halways had a strange chemical smell. I may have been overly sensitive to this becasue on my second day, I broke out in a rash. I don't know if it had anything to do with my stay there, but for several days after my trip I had very itchy skin and some blemishes. Finally, for those interested in Houston's museums or other cultural attractions, this hotel is too far away-an expensive cab ride. It's close to the Galleria, but you've seen one old shopping mall you're seem them all. Many other good hotels in Houston to choses from. Give this place a pass.

Great Staff!
By PJ, 7/21/08
I loved the service, the friendliness and cooperativeness of the staff, the elegance of the hotel, the professional attire and behavior of the staff, the efforts everyone made to accommodate any request of mine, the beautifully appointed and well-prepared meals. I highly recommend this hotel and have told family members that should they ever have occasion to visit Houston, they should stay at the Intercontinental Hotel. HOWEVER! Why does one have to pay for Wi-Fi when even the lowliest motel (e.g. Motel 6) has free Wi-Fi for its guests?

Very Happy Customer
By NXTCBLUE, 4/19/08
Very comfortable and staff does everything to make your experience enjoyable. Room was very nice. Enjoyed using the bathrobe the first night since luggage was held up at airport. Staff was accommodating. Restaurant has the most delicious salad I have ever tried - The House Salad with berries and walnuts. Shuttle service took me to the Galleria and the office building. Very professional. Consierge even helped get me going to the airport when my travel was done.

Not usually a complainer
By Earl, 2/25/08
For the last 3 years I've attended a convention here and for the last three years, our company has had nothing but billing and service problems. On several occasions our employees have been charged for their room eventhough the stay had been covered on our business cards. I had this problem again last week, but this time not only did they precharge all the incidentials to the room, they also charged me the total cost of the room. When I went to the front desk to remedy the situation, service was slow and no apology was given. After another talk with the manager, the charge was taken off.....SUPPOSEDLY. No, instead of crediting me that hefty charge back, they decided to charge me AGAIN! Service so far has been slow and the situation is still unresolved.

Poor Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/25/07
Had an event here, nice decor and location but service was quite poor. Front desk was rude, trouble ordering room service even though we had a pre-placed credit card, and parking attendant insisted on charging $14 even after 23k spent at event and parking should have been waived. Management was not sympathetic and slow to respond. Service needs a lot of improvement.

Just to let you know!!
By Wannnahotchaser, 3/16/06
This was a great hotel. As soon as we drove up I was not sure. They have a pay parking lot that is $3.00 dollars an hour, but if you are staying in the hotel you get a parking pass, that is all you need! The hotel is across the street from the Galleria so it is very convient to all the great shops. The room was awsome! Mini bar and all. We paid only $79.00 dollars a night. We made our res online which got us the cheaper price. I'm sure we got a good deal..Very Good Hotel. I will try to stay there again!
