Find someplace else
By ProfessorJoe, 08/13/08
The front desk staff was extremely courteous and very helpful, but it wasn't enough to make up for their other shortcomings. The hotel itself is pretty nice, but definitely starting to show its age with the discolorations on some of the walls and the carpets looking too worn. The biggest disappointment though was the room service and cleaning staff. Room service brought us our food and everything was nice, but wouldn't pick it up until late the NEXT DAY. There's nothing like coming out of your room first thing in the morning ready to take on the day and smelling yesterdays meal rotting on the floor in front of you. TWICE this happened. The cleaning staff did a poor job in my room. The coffee pot wasn't emptied, towels were left behind from a previous guest, the rooms weren't vacuumed properly, etc, etc........ I've stayed here almost every summer when I go back for my conference, but I can guarantee that I'll never go back again. It's too bad. They used to be really good.

Not Bad ...
By Stephen, 07/07/08
First warning: INTERNET SERVICE IS NOT FREE AT THIS HOTEL. You have to pay $10 a day for anything other than their (very limited) TV-based Internet. As for the room: the beds were very hard and the air conditioner was totally inadequate. I'll echo the comments made by others here that it tends to be pricey. The Hotel itself is beautifully done, the staff is extremely friendly and the location is good (downtown Knoxville, right on the river). The only problem is that you have to take a torturous path through one-way streets to get to it, and if the Interstate is closed (as I-40 was, in our case), it can be very difficult to get to.

horrible experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/08
rooms not ready on check in told would be done in an hour tried to get lunch not able to because of understaffing waited 20 minutes for waitress. came back an hour later one room still not finished and went back to try and get something to eat at restaurant again food was okay service terrible ice machine on floor broken for the entire trip second day there room was not cleaned until made three phone calls to front desk two calls to manager, and finally head of house keeping needed towels found a housekeeper in hallway and asked for towels but she did not speak english and tried to come in and clean with water and her hands in the bathroom. no city maps available in rooms. view is nice but not located for shopping or sights. for the price paid for not worth it at all.

Beautiful Place
By Sarah, 05/04/08
Beautiful hotel in downtown Knoxville that is within walking distance of the civic arena and Market Square shopping. The hotel was clean and the service was good. Room was a bit small but nice. The gym is state of the art. Would return in a heartbeat!

nice location
By Donna K, 04/28/08
nice location, great bed, great service, clean, great pool and pool area-on the down side I thought the room should at least have a mini-fridge for the price. Also ice machine on main floor and 2nd floor out of service.

Nice hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/05/08
We stayed here for a week and the only thing I didnt like was my room had no view. There was an inside hallway with rooms facing the interior of the hotel. Other rooms had a window to the outside, but my group did not. The food was pretty good, although, overpriced. I would stay here again.

The only place we stay in Knoxville!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/07
We truly have no complaints at all! There is nothing negative that can be said about your beautiful hotel! The reservation staff were so helpful and courteous! The restaurant staff were so friendly and attentive...Ahmet, Awi, Kamil,...just to name a few. Great guys! The rooms were very clean and we can't say enough about the comfortable beds, bedding, and those pillows--WOW! We overslept the first day because of that! ha ha The hotel wins our vote and is the only place we ever stay when we come to Knoxville! We will definately see you again soon! Kudos' to everyone there! *Special note: I would love to find out where the pillows and those lovely benches in the lobby came from..?!

In-room Refrigerators Please
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/02/07
I enjoyed my stay at the Marriott Knoxville. However, be sure to reserve a refrigerator and microwave because the rooms do not have these amenities. Additionally, there was no ironing board in the room. Finally, the food is o.k. if you are really hungry.

Perfect for a wedding reception
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/07/07
Our son just got married in Knoxville, and the reception was held at the Marriott on New Year's Eve. The buffet food was hot and tasty, the service timely and professional, and the Catering Manager, Mort, was most helpful. Most of the wedding guests also stayed at the hotel and found it very comfortable: wonderful bedding, nice room amenities, courteous staff on the front desk, fast elevators, and good food in the dining area. We highly recommend it!
