My weekend getaway with my husband
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/4/11
We have stayed twice now and have nothing but great things to say about it. Last year was the first time we stayed. We came in a few weeks ago and I asked for the same room. The front desk was able to get it for us. Yes ,we are a bit sentimental and that meant alot! We will be going back in a few weeks and I cant wait! This is somewhere that we will be going at least once a month just to have a relaxing, romantic weekend. This is somewhere I would recommend to anyone to visit! The staff has always been awesome and the room is always clean!

The Worst Hotel Experience of my Lifetime
By chevel, 7/14/10
Room was prepaid for through priceline.com. When we arrived after having driven from Chicago that day, we learned that our room had been rented to someone else in a youth convention earlier that day. They tried to offer us a room with a bed that puills down out of the wall and a couch, but that was unacceptable. The front desk staff was clueless and unhelpful. Marriott tried to blame Priceline.com (go figure!). Priceline blames Marriott. Both companies looking out for themselves, and no one looks out for the customer who pre-paid over $83 for a room that did not exist when we arrived. To top it all off, the hotel was infested with mosquitoes, and I was bitten so many times during the hour that I was trying to resolve the problem with the staff. Finally, we gave up and decided to drive home. When I got into the car, the mosquitoes that were clinging to me from the hotel lobby began feasting on my family in the car. We drove another six hours to get home, arriving home at 4:30 am. No more Marriott hotels; no more Priceline.com for us. Both are scams.

Would not stay there again!
By juanita, 7/8/10
It's over priced for the customer service you receive. The employees at the front desk seemed unfamiliar with the sites, trolley route, valet and non valet prices. We were promised a view of the Mississippi River and the concierge tried to act as if she was going to help us out and didn't so we were upset about that but the next day the concierge got on the elevator with us and about seven other people and we asked her to push 6 and she made a strange comment that there was a problem with that button so she didn't push. We went up to eight and had to come back down. Glad we didn't spend all our time there in the hotel..

Attitudes/Charges Unacceptable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/25/10
The quality and class this Marriott should have is totally lost on employees with attitudes and charges that are totally ridiculous. The front desk employees (with the exception of Tia) seem to be under the impression that it is their duty to make everything as inconvenient for you as they possibly can. Adding a night and getting the key programmed accordingly took two trips to the front desk - where the attitude was that I had caused them an inconvenience because I changed my schedule (and needed to pay them for another night.....?!......). Being a positive person and understanding what it is like to work in retail, I try to give these folks the benefit of the doubt. However...Enough said? Pay for internet?! Totally ridiculous. I never, never have to pay for internet when I travel! Won't do that again.... Unexplained charges on my card...$80 worth of charges I had not made to be exact....had to call back to get this straight. Took forever on the phone. Not sure it is straight yet...credit card statement will answer that. Heaven help you if you have to talk to the folks in the Valet Parking Office (the drivers are fine - they try hard to make a living). Overall, I would pay more to stay in a hotel of the same quality but have the customer service that should accompany these rates!

Disappointed with service, room was fine
By boobtiity, 1/21/10
I was pretty disappointed with the attitudes I encountered at this hotel upon checking in and out. I'm fairly easy to please, so when I'm put off by someone, I'm surprised. My interactions weren't over-the-top awful but for the price of a room at this location, I expect slightly more professionalism and perhaps a little southern hospitality. I often stay at Marriott hotels and this is the first time I've been dissatisfied. To be fair, the room was very nice, and I had a fantastic view of the river. I was unhappy that I had to pay $12.95 for non-wireless internet access and parking was $12. Certainly not a place to stay if you are on a tight budget!

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
By Alex, 8/19/09
After a long day, I just shut the door in the bathroom of my room and the door jammed locked behind me. (I did not even lock it). Rooms are LOW quality. Luckily my friend was there to call maintenance. Still took 45 minutes to get me out. Has my friend not been there, I would have been stuck untill next morning in the bathroom until the cleaning people showed up. The Marriott manager did not even offer to comp the room. WOULD HE HAVE LIKED TO SLEEP IN THE BATH TUB. When asked to speak to the manager in person, they were chicken and would not even show their face. They would only take a few dollars off the bill. A big company like Marriott would not even TRY to help keep a customer. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am DROPPING my rewards membership and going to HILTON.

terrible customer service!!
By Tia, 6/4/09
I would like to start off sayin that I am a marriott employee and I am deeply ashamed on how poorly I was treated. I made reservations for my step sister and I to go to Memphis for Memphis in May atleast 3weeks prior at this hotel. We were told that all she needed was the friends and family rate was a form and that regardless to the fact that I would be arriving a day later than her. We were also told this form 3 different people at this hotel. Long story short they messed up or reservations and she and I were both forced to go to another hotel. To add salty to injury my sister ended up going to the courtyard for my rate and when I tried to go for the same, they tried to charge me a friends and family rate because I didn't have a employee card on me. Now I understand that it might be policy to have the card but not every hotel associate has one. I've been working there for almost a year and just recieved one. I had other documents and a boss waiting to verify but they didn't budge. With all of that being said, there is still no reason I should have been charged more than my sister that is not a marriott associate.Needless to say, I didn't stay and later found out how rude they were to her. I will NEVER try staying at this hotel again and will NEVER let anyone I know attempt on stayin here

Planning a return trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/1/08
Our stay in February at the Marriott was the greatest. The service was excellent and everyone was so nice. Our room did not get cleaned one day, therefore the hotel sent breakfast to our room the next morning free. The view of the river, Memphis bridge, Pyramid and the sunset is so beautiful. We had trouble getting out of bed in the mornings, we didn't want to leave the comforts of the down bedding. The location for entertainment is the best. We are planning to go back with our kids for Spring Break and hoping to get the same room with the gorgeous view.

Overpriced!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/8/08
Where should I begin? I was told that check in was at noon, yet when we arrived, I was told that no room would be available until 4 pm!!! When I reserved the room I was told there wouldl be a flat screen TV, yet there was not.The room was an average size with nothing to make it stand out. Example: There was no jucuzzi bathtub and no flatcreen TV. We ordered three drinks in the bar and the tab was over $25!! The drinks were very flat and had no flavor. This hotel did nothing to stand out above regular Motel 8! I will not be back!!
