Can be deceptive, be prepared!

My husband and I just returned with my younger brother from a trip to Myrtle Beach. All in all the Tropical Winds is a good hotel, just be careful! We opted to get the "Oceanfront Corner Suite". Now my thinking was that the room would be located on the corner along the front of the hotel. When we arrived in our room we found that instead the suite was set back away from the beach with a great view of the neighboring hotel. If we leaned over the balcony and looked to the left we could view the ocean. When we went down to ask about the room, we were told all of the suites were like that and if we wanted a smaller 1 room which was oceanfront rather than our 2 room oceanfront, it would be $15 more per night. We decided to stay where we were so my husband & I could have a separate bedroom from my brother.
Additional complaints: Charges for local calls; the bathroom had numerous hairs behind the door from previous guests; housekeeping NEVER left us additional packets of coffee (we had to go down to the front desk each day to get some).
Even though the hotel left a bad taste in our mouth, it would be a good hotel for many. The rooms were nice and the indoor pool was great! We went in March and it was almost as warm as the sauna. Also, the hotel had a good location. Even though it may be good for some, we will not be staying there again.
