Excellent in every area
By Sapulpa fan, 6/11/12
For 18 years, three other retired teachers and I have enjoyed vacations. . We all thought the hotel exceeded all of our expectations. We had two rooms, one on the 8th floor and on one the 7th. Every person we encountered was courteous. Ron and Ken in the Club Room treated all the guests as cherished family members. The food was very good, and the atmosphere relaxing and elegant. The pool was just wonderful. We are still talking about our experience at this most amazing hotel.

Not up to scratch
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/11
The hotel is really overdue for a complete makeover. Looks good on first sight but a closer inspection reveals a lot to be desired. The room on the concierge level was pokey, the bathroom needed cleaning and painting and the water in the taps was running black/brown. The staff are pleasant, the management is definitely not. Very aggressive and more willing to send you on your way than listen to problems. And there were a few. The room rate was $340 per night which was just ridiculous and certainly not value for money. Breakfast was not included. We were booked in for 4 nights and left after one.

BE OBSERVANT OF EXTRA COSTS!!
By clint, 8/3/09
My spouse and I had planned a weekend getaway (Thursday-Sunday) to Charleston Place Hotel. Upon arriving on Thursday night we were told that they showed no reservations for our arrival. Once we gave our confirmation number we were able to check in but into an incorrect room. We were later told that no rooms are guaranteed for the type of room you book. The next morning upon checking my account on the internet (NO WIRELESS!!) we were surprised to see an extra $1000 in charges. We asked the staff about this on Friday, and were told these charges should be dropped. On Saturday, after a day downtown we returned to find out they had checked us out a day early!! (which on Sunday I witnessed 4 other guests who had been checked out early as well) After an hour, the staff finally realized this was by mistake and allowed us back into our room. After getting back into our room, we realized not only were there $1000 in charges, but an extra $50. We go back to talk to the staff, and they said this was inadvertent as well. Upon awaking Sunday morning our check out paper showed we owed $200 more dollars. So at this point we are charged an extra $1250. We talked to staff again (when walking to the front desk we were prompted with "What now?"), and they told us we didn't owe this and were OK to check out. Upon trying to check out we were told we only paid for 2 nights and we had to pay for the 3rd night. Reminder you, we are still charged over $1250 too much. Upon, another hour and a half of talking with the staff, they once again admitted error and we were allowed to leave. We never received 1 apology during ANY of our daily conversations with the staff. The staff also refused to let us talk with a manager or general manager. The concierge we later learned is good if you are a single female looking for a date, otherwise he will not be much help. 4 star hotel with 2 star service! Don't be fooled by the other reviews like we were.

All for show
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/8/09
The hotel itself is very grand and beautiful. The room was very normal/average/standard. Absolutely nothing to make it worth the cost of over $300 a night!! We spent less and were much happier going back to one of the historic inns, which actually had some character and better amenities. Would not ever stay here again unless it was free.

The best of the best!
By Sarah L, 2/25/09
We stayed at this hotel because there were literally no other rooms available in Charleston. I was leary of paying $300.00 a night, but this place was worth every penny! Everything was exquisite. The indoor salt water pool was a huge hit with my daughter. I can not wait to visit again!

Lovely Experience
By anniversary trip, 4/22/08
Beautiful hotel. The club level is a MUST. Beautiful spreads of food were offered nearly all day long. They had complementary wine and fruit waiting for us in our room. Beautiful hotel, especially the lobby. Rooms were nice and spacious, unlike many hotels in Charleston. Location was perfect! Right across from the market and many wonderful restaurants. The concierge was very helpful and accomodating. Just an overall lovely experience!

Nice Location, Good Service but pricey
By Alan, 12/8/07
The service was excellent and the location is great. However, the rooms are not up to what one would expect for the price. Small bathrooms, beds are not the quality one would expect either. Free internet service but one is tethered to the wire. No wireless. The food was good and some of it excellent but suffered from the fact that the chef is in love with onions. I do not believe the person knew how to make a dish that did not taste like onions first and the natural food secondly. Maybe it is just the South but after one or two meals it gets old. The Spa was as one would expect for this level of hotel. Very good and again excellent service. So, if you stay for the location and service, again they are excellent, there are plenty of fine restaurants in the area I would suggest visiting before eating at the hotel.
