Will Not Stay Here Again
This was a TERRIBLE value for the money we spent. We requested adjoining rooms far in advance, and when we got there were told none were available, and they would not move us the next day as other rooms were vacated, so our group got separated. The "full service" restaurant was closed for lunch, and barely operative for dinner-you got the impression they really didn't want anyone to eat there, and room service was a joke. As someone mentioned, for a "family" hotel, there was no kiddie pool and the bars on the sliding doors to the balcony were not secure, and the doors don't lock-so if your kid can lift up the bar, which isn't latched, he or she can get out onto the balcony. The clothes dryer, which was broken three weeks ago when a relative stayed there, was still broken, again a great inconvenience for families. When the front desk was informed, they could not have cared less, although that was the attitude we encountered from most of the front desk and food service staff. A lot of our vacation time was wasted running around looking for outside laundrymats, outside restaurants for lunch and dinner, and running around keeping our group together. The dehumidifier smelled awful and was loud, the a/c unit was so loud it was hard to sleep, watch TV, or talk with it on. The sink stopped up in one room, and the faucet didn't run properly in the other. I will give 5+stars to the cleaning/maintenance staff though-they were very courteous, friendly, and accomodating. Our rooms were immaculately clean and we always had plenty of towels. I have stayed at Holiday Inns in other areas and was very satisfied, but not here. I advise anyone looking to stay in Myrtle Beach to shop around, you can get much better rates and better accomodations elsewhere, and closer to the main attractions. If you do want to stay there, stop at a supermarket on the way for groceries, (but keep in mind the tables in the rooms are too small for more than two people to sit at, and there's only two chairs anyway, so someone has to eat in bed or on the floor), bring plenty of extra clothes because you won't be able to do your laundry, and bring something to secure those sliding balcony doors if you have little ones or sleepwalkers.
