Awesome experience!
By ,
I have traveled to Myrtle Beach many, many times, but I have never been as pleased with my hotel as I did at the Village Dunes. The price was similar to most other hotels we checked out, but this hotel was so much better. We needed maintenance twice during our stay (our fault, not theirs), and each time they came within a few minutes to fix whatever we needed. The housekeepers were friendly and kept everything tidy for us. Our view was amazing from our balcony. The water parks were fun for the kids and all of us enjoyed the water slides. They have a parking garage across the street, so there never any problem with finding a spot. The elevators were fast and as dry as possible for the beach. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and I will be back.

what a bargain!
I booked us through Cheap Tickets and got the room for half the price the resort was asking! It was very clean, the view was amazing. We are in our 50's and we enjoyed our stay here, even with kids running around, but we would not come here during spring break! The staff were very helpful and everyone was polite and happy! We will go again. One thing about Myrtle Beach, if this is your first time ( as it was with us)do some research into where everything is...we spent quite some time driving around before we found out that Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach and Surfside Beach all have the same street addresses, so you really do have to know which one you want! Good fitness room here.

More than expected
By ,
This place is in the ideal spot...You are right on the beach. It was a few miles from Broadway at the Beach and even closer to a lot of restaurants. Parking garage right across the street and always adequate parking! Pleasantly suprised to have a mini kitchen! We cooked almost every night! We will definitely be back to visit soon!

Bad Cancellation Policy
By ,
Be aware of their cancellation policy. Unlike the big chains that allow you to cancel the day before, with Dunes Village you need to cancel two weeks before or you lose your deposit. I booked in February with every intention of going. As luck would have it, my husband has to work. I called 10 days before my arrival and they refuse to refund any money. I will never book this hotel again. I wouldn't have minded paying a partial fee, but the whole night?! They have lost any future revenue from me. It's not like there is a shortage of hotels in the area. I hope they put that $116 to good use....

Great Girlfriends Weekend GetAway
By ,
My girlfriends and I were in Dunes Village the weekend of March 14th, 15th and 16th this year 2008, and we all had a blast. We just decided to get away from work at a hospital, one of the girls found this resort, thank heavens, it was so wonderful. First of all, the location is perfect, north part of MB. The resort itself, CLEAN...as well as the rooms, even the elevators, and yeah, even the pools...please don't be mislead by a few reviews that say the pool isn't clean...for the 2 early mornings we were there, the staff were cleaning, bleaching both towers' pools each morning...this is a family friendly resort, so there were lots of kids going in and out between the 2 buildings' indoor and outdoor pools and rivers, and the beach...the kids, you just couldn't help but just be like one of them, we chased against the kids to get the floats, we tried to help them get on the floats, but we thought they rather enjoyed being toppled over and over again in the pool, it was plain fun...we stayed on the 9th floor of the Palmetto Tower, 2 BR, 2 Baths... big screen TVs, DVD players, and phones in the LR and each of the BRs, clock radios in each BR...full sized furnitures and appliances, nothing cheap...even had wine glasses available, nice surprise...bathrooms have tiled marble floors, not cheap linoleum...did not hear any noise from other rooms, they were occupied...hot water, water pressure to 9th floor, no problem at all...cleaning lady on the 9th floor and the breakfast staff especially the cashier, so wonderful and nice...ample parking accross the street, just hold on to your kids when crossing...very nice, ample view of the ocean from our room, watch your step on going out into the balcony, raised sliding doorstep, not sure if same with the other rooms...they serve really good breakfast, eggs, fruits...kids enjoyed making their own waffles with moms and staff helping, of course...resort very easy, close drive to Barefoot Landing, Restaurant Rows, Tanger ( Hwy 17 ) Outlet, Carolina Opry...and the best thing, management already sent us email specials for next stays which are discounted, husband and I already planning on staying here before the summer crowds, and the girlfriends already put in vacation requests so we can stay longer next time...and oh yeah other reviewers in other sites were not so happy waiting for carts, you just have to be more open- minded in this matter, hundreds of people would either be checking in or out the same time as you would, staff really try to help find them, they go room to room, floor to floor, and on radios...I know, I myself waited for minutes, there were 300 check outs that Sunday they said...I waited and got a cart from a family loading up front...Don't start or end your planned good times on less than perfect tones...ENJOY...we surely did!!!

Best Place We've Stayed So Far!
By ,
We go to Myrtle Beach each year for our anniversary and this year was THE BEST! I compared every website I could find and ended up booking our room directly on the hotel website and got a great rate of $64 per night for Tues. - Sat. Oct. 9-13th, 2007. We had a direct oceanfront king studio on the 6th floor that was amazing! The view was the best ever and I love that quiet end of the beach much more than in the "heart" of tourist areas. The hotel constantly being cleaned, the staff was VERY friendly and I can't find anything to complain about whatsoever. Our bed was comfortable, the waterpark was fun even for a couple of 50 something year olds, the room was spotless and we had the best time ever. The parking garage is across the street but we didn't find that a problem. Give this place a try... we'll definitely be back again!

Fool me once...
By ,
Granted this place caters to familes with kids and that is going to be hard on any facility. To that point the swimming pool and lazy river always had a murky green look to them leaving the impression that the water was not clean and properly maintained. We were not impressed with the cleaning staff and performed many of their jobs for them after they "cleaned our room." We stayed on the 6th floor which I encourage all to avoid. Due to a very poor physical design of the building the walk ways to your rooms were always exceedingly hot. On our last night at the Dunes there were two fire alarms, one at 2 o'clock AM which we did not hear but there was a fire reported. And the 2nd was at 7:00 am which caused the evacuation of the entire 6 lower floors. When we existed our 6th floor room the entire hallway was engulfed in smoke. Despite puting out the fire and trying to vent the floors there was still a strong oder of smoke that would permeate your clothes. Fortunately we were leaving that day and did not have to stay in the smokey environment long. I don't blame the resort for a fire that was said to have started in a dryer vent, but it seemed to support the over all feeling I got that the resort was trying to make as much money as possible while putting the least in for maintenance. It makes me wonder what other short cuts they are taking. I echo what the other reviewer said about the lack of luggage carts and the across the street parking. In short, the photos posted by the resort paint a much nicer picture that the resort does upon arrival. The resort is poorly layed out, pools poorly maintained, and room services lacking. Think twice about spending your money here.

Needs some changes.
By ,
July 2007 We stayed at the old Dunes Village years ago and loved it. The new resort needs some changes. To begin with when you go to check in they only have a few parking places in the front which are for 15 min. parking. Well this was not enforced. People were trying to park everywhere to get checked in. After checking in you have to park across the road in the parking deck. Walking across the road is very dangerous no matter what time it is. People do not even begin to slow down. The day we checked out was just as bad. We were checking out early in the morning and they only had a few of the luggage carts. You would think with such a large motel there would have been more. It is very hard taking your things down the elevator whether you are elderly or have small children. Cars were everywhere trying to get out from the front. As for the room it was nice. But you do not even get coffee for the coffee maker. That has been standard at most of the places we stayed. When the room was cleaned, it looked like not much time had been spend to vacumn. If if it was at all. The pools were nice as well as the inside park. Just thought they needed a few changes.

Would not go back
By ,
First of all, upon check in their were no carts to be found. We waited 40 minutes as we were told the personnel would locate some. It only got worse. The key cards might work one time and not the next. Then if you had to get a new one you had to replace both cards so that they were both the same door code. In the interim of 5 days we exchanged keys 4 of them. The pics of the indoor water park is alot different than shown. Even our 9 year old said the pics on the internet made it seem alot larger than it actually was. Parking was a plus it you go for that feature. The room was relatively small in comparison to other hotels. The beds (terrible) lined with a plastic fitted sheet, so you felt like you were sleeping in a crib. Every time you turned over, it screeched and woke you up!UGGH! That did it for us......

Super Time at a New Place
By ,
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Resort is very clean and people are working to keep it that way. Rooms are comfortable and affordable. Front desk personel are helpful. Coffee shop and restaurant are a nice addition. Resort is located close to many restaurants and shopping areas. We have been to Myrtle Beach for over 20 years and this was our best experience.
