Description

The Hyatt Regency Newport is located on Newport's private Goat Island, approximately a quarter-mile from downtown with views of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay. Newport's shops, mansions, yachts, and historic attractions are within walking distance. Hotel amenities include the spa and health club with exercise bike, free weights, indoor and outdoor pool, lifecycle, massage treatments, the Newport Spa, sauna, and treadmill. There are also golf and horse riding facilities nearby (availably during high season, May through September). All rooms have coffeemakers, irons and iron boards, hairdryers, room service, and cable TV. A Resort fee is paid by guests directly to the hotel. Fee is $20 per room, per night October-April and $35 May-September includes high speed wireless Internet access in guest room, overnight self parking, Hyatt shuttle van transportation to/from downtown Newport, water shuttle to/from downtown Newport, 2 free bottled waters per guest room per night, 24 hour access to Fitness Center, Unlimited local phone calls and on property resort activities.

Love the Hyatt !

I read all the reviews posted before our visit (about how rude the staff was). Libby was the first person we spoke with checking in. She was amazingly sweet, friendly, and very courteous. In fact, everyone there was extremely helpful and courteous. The mattress was more comfortable than my bed at home! (Shocking for a hotel.) The room was awesome, the fireplace in the lounge was awesome, the food and especially the clam chowder was out of this world. We had a perfect 3 night stay. Everything and everyone was GREAT! AND I AM VERY PICKY ABOUT HOTELS, just ask my husband. Would go back in a heartbeat!

LOCATION IS NOT EVERYTHING....

My husband and I checked in to a very rude and unwelcoming greeting. Absolutely no comparison to the Ritz or any Marriott! The concierge made us feel like we were bothering her....she didn't look up and just let us thumb thru brochures (her name was Grace)...! Never before did a concierge totally ignore us before! She was no help whatsoever when we asked questions regarding the area. The room had a great view with a balcony...however you couldn't go out on the balcony due to seagull poop and feathers everywhere! It was gross! The seagulls began squawking at 6:00AM...waking us up every morning!! Bathroom small and dark...could hardly move in it! All and all..we were very disappointed in our stay. When we called down for a car to leave...we stood outside for a long period of time and had to go look for someone to go get our car! That was the final straw! Never again.... very poor experience! The staff definitely isn't held accountable for friendly service! This was my birthday weekend and I felt like it took away from having a great time!

staff very rude and unaccommodating. Offerred me a diffeent room since they did not honor my request..new room was worse than other,,restaurant was fine. hope this stay is better than last or it will certainly be my last time there at those prices service and rooms should be a plus

Really bad service

I always love Newport with its great food, shops, and sight seeings and this hotel is so nicely located in the middle of an island overooking all of Newport. We were just greatly disappointed by the service especially at the Front Desk and the Fine Dining restaurant. We spent so much money in the resto, the foods (seafood & Steak) were so so, and the service was really rude, better eat somewhere else! I thought She might be Racist since we were Asians, but looking at other reviews, I guess She was just PLAIN RUDE to everybody. Will never come back until they fix their service level.

Never again !

My husband and I met in Newport 23 years ago and went to visit family and booked the Hyatt for a romantic getaway.The front desk staff was very rude. I was shocked when we arrived that there was no one to help with our bags, to open the door, the revolving door was not working.Our room was not ready, the front desk gal asked for my cell phone number and said she would call when our room was ready. She NEVER called. I advise anyone traveling to Newport, have a great time, it is beautiful ! But stay away from the Hyatt on Goat Island. They all need a few classes on customer service.

JUST AWFUL

We we given a room on the ground floor right next to the dumpster which, of course, was emptied at 7:00 on Saturday morning. After the dump truck left, the grounds crew decided to grace us with their presence at 7:30 on a Saturday with their lawn mowers going. We complained to the front desk to no avail. This is a hotel that needs to work on their customer service because you can find equivalent lodging with more friendly service in the area.

Great hotel

I really liked the hotel and the amenities. I wasn't there much, however, we did a girl's weekend and had an incredible time. The breakfast was delicious. The only dislike I had was that the front desk could have been a little nicer. They had that NY attitude and was a bit snobby, other than that, I had a great time.

Beautiful View, Ugly Staff Attitud

This hotel has magnificent views and the room was pretty nice too. Unfortunately, the front desk staff is unaccomodating and down right rude. They need some remedial training from the folks at The Ritz Carlton. 5 Star Location 2 Star Front Desk Staff

Rip off

I disliked the fact that i booked a suite and got switched agaimst my will to a room that was equivalent to a room at a truck stop motel. I paid $400.00 a night and had to pay $16.00 for parking PER DAY , $4.00 for a bottle of water that they have in your room. And the room that i was given to replace the horrible room they gave me first was still nothing like the website described. I would not recommend this hotel to anyoone looking to enjoy thier stay in Newport , RI.
