Not worth any of your hard earned money!!
By Deborah, 09/07/09
My husband and I went away Labor Day weekend to this hotel for our anniversary. When we arrived our room was dirty, the telephone did not work or the toilet. We had to park at the back of the building and there was no lighting and the road was horrible. They advertise in their breakfast that they are a waffle house and they only have one waffle iron. When my husband tried to speak to a staff member not only did he walk past my husband when asked again a question he was threatening and mean to my husband and I. We approached management and told they believed their staff member based on what their staff member told them and "other people". Would you want to spend your hard earned money on a hotel that only is dirty but does not value you as a customer and does not care for your business to try to please you? There is many other hotels out their that are chains that at least you can complain up the corporate latter remember that in picking a hotel. I would not recommend this to anyone!

This place was crap
By Shannon, 09/01/08
This place looks nice on the website, but even before I walked through the front doors I knew that something was off about this place... The front entranceway is covered in moldy green carpet and tacky decor and probably hasn't been redecorated since the 70's... Our room smelled and so did the hallways like cigarettes and mold. Our room also included a great view of a wall which was being build around the outside of the part we were staying. The bathroom was so small you cant even sit on the toilet comfortably without hitting your knees on the door and the wallpaper was peeling and stained. The furniture was stained with some wierd white stuff... I'm surprised I left there without flea bites all over my body. The headboard of the bed was nailed to an old piece of headboard from what used to be there and there were screw holes in the walls where it looked like there used to be lamps but anything is possible at this point. The breakfast scam consists of one waffle maker that takes about 5 minutes to make a waffle on top of about 30 other people in line ahead of you so its lunch time by the time you get your waffle. The fruit looked scary and there was dirty mop water on the table where the bagels were. On top of all of that, we paid about $250.00 per night because of Labor Day weekend just to go to the Irish Fest... DO NOT stay in this hotel.

Never Ever Stay Here!!!!
By Yost, 08/31/08
This Hotel is run by a bunch of thieves!!! My Wife and I wanted to get away for the weekend, and had a medical emergency and unfortunately could not go. When I called the hotel to cancel the reservation, they told me I would have to speak with a manager who was unavailable and to call back later. I called back later, and received the same response. This went on for almost 2 days. When I finally did get a hold of a manager, they would not refund the entire stay, and was still charging me $350 for a night. This is Highway robbery!!! A very shady place to deal with. When I asked them if I could move my stay to another time they told me this was not possible, and that I would have to make a new reservation after I paid the $350. My advice would be to Never Ever Stay at this Hotel because they will rip you off!!!!

Wanted to stay longer
By Lori B, 08/09/08
We stayed at Newport Inn on 8/1/08. We arrived early afternoon. The check-in took a couple of minutes and then we were given our keycard to our room, #202. It was a fantastic room with a jacuzzi and king bed. The room was very clean, no odors at all and very spacious. We checked out the pool area, which was nice. I prefer a heated pool, but my husband had no problem going in (I sat on the edge). After that, we headed into town instead of waiting for the shuttle at 6:00 p.m. When we returned, the jacuzzi felt great (bubble bath and massage soap provided) after walking around Newport for several hours. The night was very quiet (considering it was a Friday) and we both slept great on their wonderful mattresses. The next morning the breakfast area was nice. Homemade waffles is always a treat or if you prefer, fruit and yogurt with a bagel is good too. I have no complaints about this place at all. We are already considering to return in September. I like the idea that it is located on a main roadway because we stopped at Shaw's to grab a couple of items and almost went shopping at the Christmas Tree Shop.

Rude staff, Dumpy hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/25/08
This is not a romantic get-a-way location! But, hey, if you are with a bunch of friends that just want to get drunk in Newport and get shuttled back to a cheap hotel then this is the place for you. When we first arrived at the hotel my wife approached the front desk and the lady behind it glanced at us and then walked into the back room with out saying a word. We then heard her arguing with a younger staff member. Needless to say, right from the beginning we were prepared for the worst. When we were shown our room I wanted to pitch a tent somewhere or sleep in the car. Ugh. The only plus was that they had a regular shuttle to Newport.

Horrible Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/07/08
We stayed here for two nights thinking the place looked nice from the website. It was to say the least DISGUSTING. We payed inflated rates because it was 4th of july. total rip off. The room smelt like old cigaretts and must. The carpet was stained. The wall paper was peeling off. We booked a king room but got a double. The staff was rude and no help. The pool was old and dirty. The worst hotel i have ever stayed at. There are do many hotels in newport to choose from so stay away from this one!!

Way better than expected from previous reviews
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/08
After reading the prior reviews I was very worried about our stay. We had previously booked the stay for a wedding. I found the complete opposite. It was evident alot of things were brand new. The pool area looked as if they just refurbished it. Our room was very recently remodled and we really had no issues. I actually thought that some of the other negative comments were made by Aunt Bea types that can never be pleased or other local hotels trying to ambush this small independently owned Hotel. The staff was fine and there was a complete area designed for us to get info of area attractions. The place was packed and we couldn't get an additional room for one of our friends. This is my first review so I hope you find my review helpful.

stay away
By Lynne, 05/11/08
I had booked this hotel and then read the reviews. I booked at the last minute, so I couldn't change it. Boy, was it bad. Beware everyone, I learned in the morning that they don't and can't lock their doors so anyone can get in or out. They also do not have additional locks on the doors inside. The place was filthy. Our bathroom was not even swept. There was stuff all over the floor and the floor itself was filthy along with the toilet being gross. The toilet overflowed and we had to call maintenance, which they came right away and fixed. I then get a knock on the door and the guy hands me the towels to wipe up the floor. I don't think so! He went in and did it. The chair in the room is gross. The lights between the beds didn't work and the lamp shades are just hanging there and they kept falling. No hairdryers ladies, you have to request one. The ice machine was broken. Their beds are comfortable and the showers have great pressure. The towels were stained. I said all of this to the woman at the desk and got nothing, except that they are planning to replace the non-locking door. I ended up paying with tax $101.57, which was not worth it. Oh, by the way, the television is small, but they did have HBO, which was good. Also, the coffee maker only has regular, no decaf. We did not eat the continental breakfast, because I saw how dirty the rooms were, I couldn't imagine what the kitchen looked like.

Good Value in NewPort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/18/08
recently I received a free voucher to the hotel from a company that I work with. When I checked in I was upgraded for free, the room was clean except for a stained chair and the whirlpool was great. except for the caulking around the tub that was missing. The breakfast consisted of waffles, yogurts, cereal and juices as well as a good cup of coffee. Better than paying $35 at IHOP for four. WIth the Energy prices as high as they are, a place like Newport Spa was a nice place to stay.

very nice! luxury hotel
By Lisa, 03/03/08
I went to see my sister that stayed here and was very surprized at how nice it was after I read some of the old reviews. It had tempurpedic mattresses like I have at home. I didn't want to get out of the massage chair in the room . it was like those $4000.00 massage chairs at those Brookstones stores in the Malls. It had a jacuzzi in the room and plush amenities! I would recommend it to friends.
