Wait for them to "get their act together"

The sign at the registration desk says they're undergoing rennovations, replacing the mildewy carpets, redecorating the rooms. They also appear to need to rennovate their computer systems or the staff that makes entries to them, and the way they promote their rooms.
We came in at around noon to check into our "suite" (we were 2 adults and a child), and were given two keys. The keys worked and we entered a room that had pizza cartons strewn around, a TV running, and perhaps somebody in the bed. We immediately left, went back to the registrar and told them our "suite" was not a suite at all, and that the room was still occupied.
The desk clerk apologized but said (1) it was a "studio" suite; and (2) we should come back after 3 O'clock which was checkout.
We came back at 7pm, were given new keys, went back to the room, and it STILL hadn't been touched. Still the pizza, the TV running, the unchanged linens, etc. We insisted on another room which was on the third floor. The room was clean, this time, but it turned out that the sofabed (that which distinguishes an ordinary double from a suite, apparently) had not been made.
The hotel seemed in a general state of disarray. So, all in all, a very bad experience. Some of the staff were actually quite nice, and we haven't ever ragged on a hotel before and feel mixed about doing it now. But these folks really have to get their act together!!!
