A great place close to Knoebels
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/03/08
We stayed here last summer and will stay again this August. We stayed in the new section and it was beautiful. Clean, AC an convenient to Knoebels Amusement Park. The food was good (although expensive) at the Pine Inn restaurant but worth it for the convenience.

Overpriced food for the quality
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/18/08
I dined at Pine Barn Inn for my birthday. It came recommended as one of the nicest places in town and a great place to take my mother. Well, the atmosphere was "old" even for my mother who's 60. The food looks great on paper, but from appetizers to dessert, we found it pretty bland at best. The menu promises one thing, but the actual dish doesn't deliver. The spinach dip had so many onions we couldn't taste the spinach, our entrees tasted "homemade" but without much flavor, and dessert was straight out of a box. The over $3 cappuccino was so obviously instant as well. Wish I could have celebrated my birthday elsewhere, like at one of the lower priced but better bar/restaurants in town.

This inn was such a surprise. We found it on-line and weren't sure if it would live up to our expectations. We went on vacation to Knoebels and stayed at the Pine Barn Inn with another fsmily. We LOVED it. It is very clean, picturesqe. The restaurant has great food and it is a terrfic value! We highly recommend it!!

Pretty good for central PA
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/05/07
The Inn is located just off the driveway of the Geisinger Medical Center, so you can't miss it. It even runs a shuttle bus up the hill to the Medical Center if you can't walk. It's kind of a cross between a hotel and motel, depending on where your room is located. Here's a run-down: _Pros_ 1. Pretty good soundproofing - didn't hear much from other rooms other than water in the pipes. 2. Good selection of cable TV channels (unlike the "upscale" Radisson I stayed in a few days later!) 3. Free wireless internet in the rooms (in the middle of central PA!) 4. Free coffee and sometimes fruit in each hallway. _Cons_ 1. Pretty lousy fitness room with cheap equipment that doesn't completely work. 2. Mattresses really need replacing as I could feel the springs in mine. Pillows were also either too thin or really lumpy. All in all though, for the price, its a good deal and a great location if you're headed to Geisinger Medical Center.

A pleasing stay
By Ruth, 04/27/06
I had a delightful stay on my recent trip to Danville. I found the hotel to be well kept, clean and the staff friendly. It's location to the hospital was convient as I was attending a seminar at the hospital. Just a little tip to all travelers...do try out the resturant!! The resturant is ellegant, the food terrific, and the service wonderful. The menu is somewhat limited and the food a bit pricey but every bite was worth the money spent. The presentation of the food was comparable to some of the best resturants in the USA. How lovely our meals look with fresh orchids adorning the plates. A sheer treat to the eyes and tastebuds :)

Never even got a chance to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/05
I called to make a reservation at the Pine Lodge, because I have a family member in a life threatening situation at the Geisinger Medical Center, and was treated abruptly with a very curt, non-curtious attitude by the desk. Considering my family has been staying at the Pine barn for the passed several weeks, depositing hundreds or even thousands of dollars into the Pine Barn's bank account during a VERY difficult time in our lives, I would certainly think a little compasionate manners would go a long way. I know that Pine Barn probably has more business than they know what to do with having the Medical Center in their back yard, but maybe the staff needs to learn that good business may not be about just the money. scott moses
