The truth about the Sheraton
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/05
There have been a lot of mixed reviews about the Sheraton Society Hill on tripadvisor, so I was a little nervous about staying there. However, after staying there for three days July 14-17, I was relieved.
The hotel is in a great location. There is no argument here. It is within walking distance of everything and it is right by the Delaware. This area of the city was quieter than the hubub downtown, which was nice to come home to.
The lobby is incredible. It is large, well lit, has trees and a fountain and was always cool (helpful after walks around the muggy city). They let us check in a little early and our room was immaculate. The bed was DEFINITELY the best part of the room. It was king sized and the mattress/comforter/pillows were the softest I had ever stayed on. We were away from the lobby, and I NEVER heard a sound when I was sleeping. Also, we never had to wait for the elevator. EVER. An earlier review said it took forever, but that is utterly untrue.
The concierge was helpful in giving directions and more often than not they opened the door for us on our way out...not something I typically expect from a 3star.
We never had any trouble with getting our room cleaned (it was always done when we came back) and they did not automatically charge us for valet since we parked in that garage about a block and a half away.
We booked via hotwire and got a great rate...and we definitely got our money's worth and then some. We will be staying there again next time we are in Philly. Hope this review helps!
PS Do NOT go to the Bleu Martini bar down 2nd St. The drinks were overpriced and the service was the worst I have ever experienced. Just a friendly tip.
