Needs improvement
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/24/11
I like that it is a convenient Inn. The price isn't that bad however the website shows a lesser amount. The thing that I did not like was the underneath the comforter was someone elses blonde hairs all over the the bed and pillow. There was hair on the bathroom floor and in the tub. YUKE!!!!

Management doesn't care--don't stay there!
By Kari, 1/19/10
Advertises WiFi, but for the 5 days we stayed it wasn't accessible. The tub didn't drain, and when they fixed that they broke the shower. We complained repeatedly to the front desk. They looked embarrassed and said others were complaining too; they would relate it to the manager. Upon check out I asked if our complaints had been listed and given to the manager, there was no record of it. The woman called the manager who was seated with his door open in an office 6 feet away. We could hear him telling her that since WiFi was free, we didn't deserve anything. He wouldn't even come out of his office and speak to us, he just kept repeating that we didn't deserve any consideration for all the inconvenience. I finally went in his office and told him, "Wouldn't it be easier to speak to us directly?" He insisted that we were due nothing as he had been kind enough to let us check out 1 hour late instead of charging us $25 (for a room which no one would be checking into because of the broken shower). The woman behind the desk told us that at least we had heat and hot water and that was what was most important, wasn't it? In 1.5 months of traveling, staying at places from $35 a night to $200, no one behaved like the manager of this hotel. He refused to give me the contact info for the owners. Thus, I believe he is the owner.

Best deal around
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/09
The "Good" rating, of course, is comparative based on price. I came from NY looking for a budget hotel for one night, and was honestly worried when I saw the price was $79. I was pleasantly surprised. VERY clean rooms, comfortable and sufficiently spacious, flat screen TV, table, and ample light. There's plenty of "safe" parking, and you get continental breakfast. While I can't speak for all the staff, the day staff were very helpful with directions and friendly. Convenient location on Route 1. I would have liked a coffee maker in the room, but what can ya do. I would come again.

Would not stay there again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/28/08
The woman at the front desk was the most miserable person-was not courteous or pleasant at all! The room had no clock, hair dryer, ironing board. The bathroom floor was soaking wet because the base of the toilet was leaking water all over the floor. It looked like someone tried to caulk it, but it wasn't working. We wiped up all the water, and put a towel on either side of the toilet to soak up the water. We were afraid to tell the mean lady at the front desk, and we were down for a family funeral so we weren't spending alot of time in the room-luckily! The next day we asked the woman that was cleaning the rooms to leave us extra towels so we could soak up the water that was leaking from our toilet. She was nice and said she would, but you'd think it would have been reported by her as a problem. The room itself seemed clean and the rug fairly new. The "continental breakfast" was coffee, warm iced tea, and a box of Dunkin Donuts.

AWFUL about sums it up!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/07
My 88 year old father and I arrived around 9:00 PM and were greeted (that's a stretch)...were glared at by the most hostile human being I've ever encountered who was safely sitting behind a bullet proof window! He was nasty, rude, contemptible. We learned from a nice clerk the following morning that Mr. Hostile was hired to be hostile because it is a rough neighborhood and his demeanor is intended to quell any nonsense from undesirable people. Hum. Trust me when I say that my dad and I are quite respectable and could hardly have presented a perceived threat to Mr. Hostile! The non-smoking room was okay except that you could still smell the lingering aroma of stale smoke in the not so clean drapes and the bed spread was riddled with cigarette burns! There was no heat in the rooms (it was mid October), no clock, no coffee machine, no service in the bar/cafe because it was a weekday but wow, coffee available after 8 AM. I am surprised that this motel got some good ratings but can only speculate that those lucky people didn't have the thrill of meeting Mr. Hostile! However, the housekeeping staff was very pleasant!

This Hotel is Not Bad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/07
I like this hotel because you can come and just relax, away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. No one bothers you and the staff is very nice. The is also a bar on the premises that is open on friday and saturday nights. I've had a positive stay every time I have come. Not a 5 star but an affordable, clean, nice establishment.

Nice weekend in Philly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/07
Came in from Chicago on business - found this place and had some money left over to spend in the city. Bed was comfortable, room and TV were good - I was even able to access my email account through the new wifi. Good value - good location.

GROSS, DON'T GO HERE!!!!
By adrianne, 6/17/07
My husband and three small children checked into this hotel and me first impression walking in the front door was this is bad. The attendant was behind glass, the lobby stank and there weren’t even chairs or anything in the lobby for the guests. After getting to our room I was even more disgusted. The carpet was dirty and wet, there were holes in the ceiling and in the curtains and there was no blankets on the beds; we did however find blankets in the dresser after the front of the drawer fell off. The beds were terrible and I felt like if I used the shower I’d be dirtier than I was before I got in. the AC also did not work and June in Philly is not the place to be without AC. in the morning I went to get something to drink from the vending machines with me daughter only to be asked by them what was in that white box, they were condoms, right next to the M&M's. We checked out that morning, our stay that was supposed to last 9 days was a 10hr event. This is not a please for families, or anyone who would like to sleep in a clean comfortable bed.

Nice hotel
By PeteCion, 6/1/07
My wife and I needed a place to stay to pick up our daughter for her graduation from Temple University - though the reviews of the Roosevelt were mixed, the price was right (necessary after paying tuition for four years!). We found the hotel to be actually quite nice - our room was clean, with new furniture and carpets, and comfortable big bed, and a large TV with cable. The carpets in the hall seemed brand new, and there was artwork throughout the halls. We got a good night's sleep, and were refreshed and able to help our daughter pack up the next day. Overall, both my wife and I would most definitely stay at the Roosevelt when in town again.
