Torn down
This hotel, built in 1978 - 1979, was torn down in January of 2012. It boasted the only indoor pool in the area, which was also used for swimming lessons. In its early years the hotel even hosted live music from semi-well known groups. The Prime Rib Restaurant would have weekly themed buffets, Mexican, Italian, Seafood, etc. Up until about 2005, when the hotel was last remodeled and sold, it still had some of the best reviews of any hotel in the area. The final owner was determined to save money in the operation of the hotel, but never quite got the formula right. The menu in the restaurant was cut back and no longer served their namesake, "Prime Rib". One serious blow came when a pipe froze and burst in the north wing, causing major damage. During its final years there were some days with no, or very few guests. Finally, the hotel was no longer worth operating and the hotel closed on March 26th, 2010. According to the Bedford Gazette, the hotel was purchased by the Bittner family, owners of the Gateway Travel Plaza, at a sheriff's sale in mid-December, 2010. It was torn down due to being in disrepair and the high assessment for property taxes.
