Not bad, not great, subpar for a wyndham
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/11
+ Generally clean, friendly staff, downtown location - $6 parking in a deserted garage, in a deserted Reading (this is the 3rd hotel I've stayed at in downtown Reading, and the 1st to make you pay to park) Sheets had some ink stains on them. Pillows were atrocious as far as zero comfort. I think they are as old as the hotel. My guess is reusing old sheets and pillows are a corner cutting cost method for a hotel trying to remain operational in an economically recessed area. All other parts of the stay fell into a standard Wyndham experience.

Stay away from the Hot water
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/16/11
I took a shower and when I open the hot water I was cover with brown water. Really bad experience. Service is good and hotel look good after 80 old. Food is very gresseeee. (please use cooking spray) Prepare to pay for the parking.

Nice Historic hotel
By Vic, 4/15/07
This is a nice, historic hotel, with a location that was within walking distance of the Soverign Center, where our figure-skating event was being held. The rooms were clean and furniture, time period appropriate. The staff was very nice and helpful. If I go to Reading again, for this event, I'll stay there again.

Very impressive hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/6/06
Beautiful historic hotel with lovely architecture, huge rooms (the public areas are very historic while the rooms are big, modern and have MANY amenities). Service was exceptional throughout hotel especially in the bar and dining room. Considering the price (under $100.00) we couldn't believe everything we got. We walked to our concert at the Soverereign Cener (about 3 blocks). Very nice...appears area is being revitalized. Lots of construction in the neighborhood. Would definately return.

Great experience
By trishp, 7/21/05
The staff were so friendly and helpful; they really went the extra mile, especially Dennis and Noelle. Well-located and very nice; I wish we'd had more time to spend in the hotel. My only wish is that room service ran later.

Very nice . . .
By wendy p, 6/27/05
The hotel was very nice and the parking garage was very convenient. I was warned by a friend that downtown Reading can be dangerous at times, but I did feel very secure at this hotel. I had rented one of the suites with a whirlpool tub, but I was not happy with the layout of the bathroom. There was a set a doors above the tub that allowed access into the bedroom so the guests would not have to walk through the living room section of the suite. Only problem was that these doors did not shut well. If you were laying on the bed, you could see into the bathroom and hear what was going on thru a gap in the doors. It was a small gap, but it did not allow for privacy and it allowed light to filter into the sleeping area.

Wonderful Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/04
This is a grand old hotel that has been restored to enhanced and combine the modern and old. It was clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet was delicious and reasonable. Downside was that we were unaware of the parking fee - only $5.00 but we would have liked to have known about it. Parking is in a secure convenient garage. Definitely would stay here again.

Lots of atmosphere
By Todd, 7/24/04
Unlike "cookie cutter" motels and hotels, this place has a lot of atmosphere - I think it was built in the late 20's. You also get great views of Reading from rooms on the upper floors. It has an attractive lobby and pleasant, relaxing bar. However, I have stayed there when I could reserve a room far enough in advance to get the "internet" rate, which on my last trip was $80.00/night. In terms of value, I don't think I would stay there for the "standard" rate (which was $120.00/night, I believe) especially when you take into account that you have to pay $5.00/day for parking. The hotel is now under a new management group and they plan to make some upgrades, so I imagine the rates will be increased somewhat in the future. You can walk to some downtown restaurants and events from the hotel, but you have to be careful about where you walk in downtown Reading after dark.
