Travelodge Salem, Salem

Not the best neigborhood. No frig or microwave. Worn out bedding and mattresses. At least the bathroom was clean. Unprofessional staff. Breafast starts at seven most, travelers are on the road by then. There is actually no breakfast. You are only allowed one small bowl of cereal. Sorry no milk! A small danish and coffee. When I tried to enter at exactly 7:03 AM the door was locked and the person in the lobby where the breakfast counter is ignored me. I returned five minutes later and it appears I irritated her. When I asked for my checkout receipt she reminded me that I had my credit card receipt from check-in. Hospitality business my rear end. They need to get out of the business.

The room was HUGE. There were 2 king beds in our room, with room to spare. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The outside looks like a Travelodge - nothing fancy. The downside of our stay was that there was a huge party of people in multiple rooms, and they were running back and forth and yelling across the building and in the parking lot at night and early in the morning. It wasn't too bad at night, as we cranked up the air conditioning to drown out most of the noise. The room was stuffy and hot when we first entered, but cooled down quickly. Not a bad place as long as you don't run into a noisy party.

Clean and spacey room, desk clerk and Maint personnel were friendly and helpful. When I got in the room the smoke detector battery was low and kept beeping, however within 5 minutes of calling the desk, it was replaced. Motel was a little hard to find if coming into Salem other then right off the I-5 exit at State street, (I came into Salem off the Keiser exit from Portland). Motel is located close to the State Capitol Area. State Street is about two blocks south of Central Street which is the main throughway in downtown Salem. I just spent one night, but overall the stay was very good.
