The Heathman Hotel, Portland

All in all It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at SweetHotelDeals. N e t They usually have some pretty good deals on there.

Heathman is a very nice hotel in the middle of downtown. Location is really good. The room is decent size and very nicely done. The staff are really helpful. The valent parking is quite useful, food was excellent.

From the moment you drive up to the valet parking the service is excellent. Walk in the door and the concierge, in our case Kimberly, greets you and makes you feel welcome. We ate in the restaurant several times and all meals were excellent. Our waiter Norman was attentive without being pushy and everything was timed perfectly. He even knew my favorite cocktail without me having to explain it. We had a small problem with tickets to a show we had obtained on line and Kimberly was outstanding in her handling of the situation. This is definitly our hotel in Portland from now on.

first, the restaurant, which is independent of the Heathman, was absolutely outstanding. The hotel: reservations were for one suite and one double room, made under one name and one reservation code. After waiting 1 hr 45 mins to get into our rooms, one room was on the 8th floor and one was on the 4th floor! The original request was for connecting rooms. The hotel said the problem was that we booked through the Portland Visitors Center, which is inept. The small front desk at the hotel is for concierge/check in and out/ coat checks, etc. Pleasant ladies - overworked and harried. They could not our change rooms because "we are full tonight." Upon asking the night manager, Jeremy, to discuss what could be done, he informed us "I don't have much time. I am very busy. If you change hotels, thats fine but you will pay for the two rooms anyway." He had absolutely no people skills and was offensive. We decided to stay put for the night - we were hungry and tired and were determined he was not going to spoil out Christmas shopping trip. We could not pull out the hideabed couch in the suite - but found leftover candy and crumbs when we removed the cushions to do so. Yuck! Imagine what the sheets may have looked like. We will not stay at the Heathman again - but will definitely eat in the restaurant. Try the Fifth Avenue Suites - had exceptional service and rooms there last year.

My stay at the Heathman for my birthday was the most disappointing experience I have ever had in a hotel. On my birthday, May 27, my friend called to have room service send goodies from the menu to my room as a birthday surprise and was told that she should not have waited until the last minute, that the hotel was understaffed, and no one had time to take her order. During our stay we found that the television in the room had no sound for random and long intervals. In addition, the sink in the bathroom had a leak that puddled onto the floor. The alarm clock had remained set for a 4:00 wake up call from the previous guest and I was up at 4 AM figuring out how to shut off the thing. The hallway on our floor smelled as if there were a gas leak. This is a 4 star hotel. When I told the manager about these issues in the room, he could not have been more dismissive and indifferent. He suggested that we go out for a while later that day so someone could come upstairs and have a "look" at the TV. He repeated several times, "Well, you did book through Expedia" as if to say I should not expect better service since I had used that particular convenience. We decided to go to another hotel after being treated this way and the manager refused to credit the 2nd night to my account, saying that, since I had booked through Expedia, I should get my money back from them. He was unbelievably rude and never so much as apologized for the many things that had gone wrong during our stay. When I called Expedia, they said the hotel was absolutely responsible for removing the charge and addressing my complaints. The Expedia representative called the Heathman and the same manager was not only rude but hung up on her! Beware: things here are not the quality represented.

i really like the serveice and its a lovely place to go. the rooms are lovely really clean also. i just cant wait go back. i told my friends about hotel and they liked the idea of going over the winter break.

The rooms are luxorious and beautiful, the staff is friendly and helpful. Have stayed there three times and everytime I can't wait to get back. Oh, and the in room coffee is the best I've ever had.

I took my husband here for a close to home getaway and WOW! what a great place! Valet parking; chocolates, a rose, fresh pressed coffee, etc. on a beautiful tray in your room; live jazz music downstairs; wonderful bar with great atmosphere; the list is endless. Being in the heart of the city was fabulous and breakfast the next morning was out of this world. If you're looking for romantic charm this is the hotel for you.

I LIKE THE ATmosphere and the ambience and the place has a very hip crowd. the place always has a good, young crowd on a week end

I really enjoyed my stay here. There staff was pleasant. The room was very clean, & everything was in it's place. The view was great.Overall had a excellent time here.
