Nightmare!! Stay somewhere else!
By Shane, 08/11/08
I was going to be out of town and a friend of mine was booked to stay at Travelodge - Newport Kentucky. I wrote the general manager as well as called ahead, just asking that they be put in a room not on ground level just because of a busy area...I wanted them to be extra safe. She booked 2 weeks ahead of time. She said it was a NIGHTMARE and would never go back! Besides the staff being HORRIBLY rude to her...they put her in a ground level room and said 'there is no other room'. Though when a couple behind her asked after she was checked in if there were vacancies...they said they did. How could this be their last room then?? She was scared to be there. It was loud and drunks were rowdy to the point that they were afraid to leave their room after dark. She said the police came several times and there were loud arguments and whatnot to the point that she was scared to sleep. Since she was on the ground level room (which I called and asked, besides writing you and asking...practically begging for an indoor room...preferably facing the river) ...she was nervous that some crazy person would break in or damage her car or worse! I live in Newport and really expected so much more. All I hoped for...was a safe and fun stay for them while they went to a Reds game the following day. But clearly, I was wasting my time. I will never, ever recommend anyone else to ever stay at this location....even if they will have to go to Covington - another town away - to have safe lodging. Stay at your own risk!

Won't go back !!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/19/08
Loved location and value. My family and I have been staying a whole weekend for the past 4 years to attend a Reds game and participate in other activities around the area. We have seen the place go through upgraded renovations which have made it more appealing. I have defended the negative reviews and referred others to this location as well. On to my reasons for not returning: This was an awful trip as I booked two rooms for two nights in March and had a confirmation number, which did not mean a thing. We were put out of the hotel on Saturday, before the game, because the management did not have us registered for two nights. The staff claimed I did not reserve for two night. Unfortunately, I had a confirmation number, name and date only so the CUSTOMER was wrong and the establishment was right.(??) I had nothing in black and white to prove my case. I told my side and even said the person checking us in said the card would hold the rooms and we could pay at check out Sunday. REQUEST A DETAILED CONFIRMATION IN WRITING FROM THIS PARTICULAR HOTEL FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!! We will stay elsewhere from now on which is a sad thing for us.

A Good Spot
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/07
I've stayed at this place twice now, and am about to go back for a third time. The location is perfect - not that far from downtown Cincinnati. Near to Newport on the Levy (lots of great restaurants, a Barnes and Noble, and a huge theatre complex). And my sister lives in Newport, which is the main reason for my trip. The lodge is clean. Air-conditioned. Cable TV. Bath and shower. Basic but OK. Good for me.

FIND SOMETHING ELSE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/15/06
This hotel was awful. We booked 20 rooms for our rowing team and parents. Someone had dirty towels in their room when we checked in. The sinks didn't work. One toilet didn't work (now who can go the weekend without one??). Some of the phones didn't work. We waited a very long time to get some clean towels so we could shower. There were cobwebs hanging from my ceiling (and I'm not talking little cobwebs). It was NOT a value, and at $74 per night I would expected somewhat better. Thank goodness we were gone from 7 a.m. until at least 8 p.m. and didn't have to spend much time there.

It's just a ran down motel.
By kom, 05/03/06
The motel is located really nice place; just nearby the Newport on the levee. It takes only a few minutes to go every attractions nearby. The best thing for me was, I didn't have to care about too much drinking at Hofbrauhaus:) But the problem is, the hotel is not well maintained. The worst thing was everywhere in the hotel smelled like cheap toilet cleaner. Very obnoxious. So, don't expect it as a hotel, it's just a chap ran down motel located on the very good place. See the price tag. You'll realize again you can only get what you paid. I only recommend this motel for singles and students who don't want to spend big bucks. If you're looking for the place to stay with your lover or family, find another place.

It's a cheap place to sleep.
By Nancy, 02/25/06
We stayed in a smoking room on the ground level. Although the hotel could use a little maintenance it was a decent place to stay and the rate was even better. The view of Cincy at night was excellent from out the room window and it's within a short walking distance to great food, the Aquarium and the Southgate House (great live music!). Frisch's Big Boy had a good breakfast and the burgers at Johnny Rockets are great, although a little pricy (3 adults for $45.00) the food was excellent, try the onion rings!

Perfect Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/17/06
I stayed at this hotel because I was visiting the Southgate House (nightclub). I was so impressed with the location. I didn't have time to visit everything that Newport has to offer. The staff was so kind to us. Because of the rate we payed when we checked into the hotel I wasn't expecting what we got. The room had everything we needed, spacious and clean. I want to do more in Newport and the Travelodge is where we'll be staying.

stay if you have no quarms about where you sleep
By pamela, 08/25/05
The room had writing on the walls and dried brown stuff on pictures and lamps. Bedspreads had holes in them. The mini refrigerator had spoiled food left in it. Elevators are a ride at your own risk. One of them caught my daughters hand in the door and took my husband everything he could do to get it open and all the staff could say was we will have to watch the video tapes to see whos fault it was and they could not do that until in the am cause no manager could be gotten a hold of. Lights did not work well. Needless to say we did not bath until we got home do the the black stuff growing in the showers.

Bad Rooms
By Deanna, 07/12/04
While the employees were friendly and generally helpful, the rooms we were in were in terrible condition. They also put us in rooms that were obviously smoking rooms when we specifically said we could go somewhere else if they didn't have non-smoking. I am severly alergic to cigarette smoke and spent a very bad night. Our TV's didn't work in either room. We didn't feel safe because the doors to the outside were not completly tight. However, it appears they have made some improvements and these issues may have been corrected. The location was wonderful for a trip to the aquarium and a baseball game.
