Pictures do not TELL the truth
By Leshia, 5/5/11
We have been traveling to Newport/Cincinnati area for the REDS games and decided to try out different hotels. Upon arriving at this hotel, I was given keys to a room that had not been cleaned from the night before. I was then given another room, which had such a bad odor and on top of that, no heat-no air... we had to go to Target and pick up room freshers and a fan to circuit the air enough so we could try to sleep. Also, there were bulbs missing and one light wouldn't even work. Next morning when we checked out, the room desk DID NOT ask how everything was, so I informed her of the problems and she acted as if she didn't care. The ONLY positive thing we could say about the hotel, the king size bed wasn't that bad and we could walk across the bridge to the ball park. I would think twice about staying at this location again.

SUITED WELL FOR US!!
By Mara, 7/23/10
The location was awesome! The pool was nice and clean, along with the room. We had a ground level room for two nights, and I had no complaints other than they took my towel when they cleaned the room. The staff was awesome and located my towel and gave it back with no hassle and apologized. Yes, there is quite a bit of traffic (there was a party there that night that did get broken up), but we didn't hear anything. Also, ya have to remember where you are... near a big city and by quite a few bars. It was perfect for what the hubby and I needed... a place to sleep and swim in between our activites... Major kudos!

Good for crashing Not good for relaxing
By Jarrod, 4/4/10
The location and value is great. It's walking distance to the Reds games, numerous bars, restraunts (Hofbrauhause, Hooters, Arnies, etc.), and attractions. I would recommend it to those who are not real picky or who don't plan on spending much time at the motel. I have stayed here 5 times and plan on returning. Although, other than sleeping I've never spent more the 2 hours in my room. I would not recommend this for people wanting to stay at the hotel for a relaxing getaway or those wanting any amenities. There are nicer hotels for a little more money which are still walking distance to the bars, restaraunts, and attractions. Little farther to get to Reds games, but it's still walkable if you don't mind walking.

Nightmare!! Stay somewhere else!
By Shane, 8/11/08
I was going to be out of town and a friend of mine was booked to stay at Travelodge - Newport Kentucky. I wrote the general manager as well as called ahead, just asking that they be put in a room not on ground level just because of a busy area...I wanted them to be extra safe. She booked 2 weeks ahead of time. She said it was a NIGHTMARE and would never go back! Besides the staff being HORRIBLY rude to her...they put her in a ground level room and said 'there is no other room'. Though when a couple behind her asked after she was checked in if there were vacancies...they said they did. How could this be their last room then?? She was scared to be there. It was loud and drunks were rowdy to the point that they were afraid to leave their room after dark. She said the police came several times and there were loud arguments and whatnot to the point that she was scared to sleep. Since she was on the ground level room (which I called and asked, besides writing you and asking...practically begging for an indoor room...preferably facing the river) ...she was nervous that some crazy person would break in or damage her car or worse! I live in Newport and really expected so much more. All I hoped for...was a safe and fun stay for them while they went to a Reds game the following day. But clearly, I was wasting my time. I will never, ever recommend anyone else to ever stay at this location....even if they will have to go to Covington - another town away - to have safe lodging. Stay at your own risk!

Won't go back !!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/19/08
Loved location and value. My family and I have been staying a whole weekend for the past 4 years to attend a Reds game and participate in other activities around the area. We have seen the place go through upgraded renovations which have made it more appealing. I have defended the negative reviews and referred others to this location as well. On to my reasons for not returning: This was an awful trip as I booked two rooms for two nights in March and had a confirmation number, which did not mean a thing. We were put out of the hotel on Saturday, before the game, because the management did not have us registered for two nights. The staff claimed I did not reserve for two night. Unfortunately, I had a confirmation number, name and date only so the CUSTOMER was wrong and the establishment was right.(??) I had nothing in black and white to prove my case. I told my side and even said the person checking us in said the card would hold the rooms and we could pay at check out Sunday. REQUEST A DETAILED CONFIRMATION IN WRITING FROM THIS PARTICULAR HOTEL FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!! We will stay elsewhere from now on which is a sad thing for us.

A Good Spot
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/07
I've stayed at this place twice now, and am about to go back for a third time. The location is perfect - not that far from downtown Cincinnati. Near to Newport on the Levy (lots of great restaurants, a Barnes and Noble, and a huge theatre complex). And my sister lives in Newport, which is the main reason for my trip. The lodge is clean. Air-conditioned. Cable TV. Bath and shower. Basic but OK. Good for me.

FIND SOMETHING ELSE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/15/06
This hotel was awful. We booked 20 rooms for our rowing team and parents. Someone had dirty towels in their room when we checked in. The sinks didn't work. One toilet didn't work (now who can go the weekend without one??). Some of the phones didn't work. We waited a very long time to get some clean towels so we could shower. There were cobwebs hanging from my ceiling (and I'm not talking little cobwebs). It was NOT a value, and at $74 per night I would expected somewhat better. Thank goodness we were gone from 7 a.m. until at least 8 p.m. and didn't have to spend much time there.

It's just a ran down motel.
By kom, 5/3/06
The motel is located really nice place; just nearby the Newport on the levee. It takes only a few minutes to go every attractions nearby. The best thing for me was, I didn't have to care about too much drinking at Hofbrauhaus:) But the problem is, the hotel is not well maintained. The worst thing was everywhere in the hotel smelled like cheap toilet cleaner. Very obnoxious. So, don't expect it as a hotel, it's just a chap ran down motel located on the very good place. See the price tag. You'll realize again you can only get what you paid. I only recommend this motel for singles and students who don't want to spend big bucks. If you're looking for the place to stay with your lover or family, find another place.

Perfect Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/17/06
I stayed at this hotel because I was visiting the Southgate House (nightclub). I was so impressed with the location. I didn't have time to visit everything that Newport has to offer. The staff was so kind to us. Because of the rate we payed when we checked into the hotel I wasn't expecting what we got. The room had everything we needed, spacious and clean. I want to do more in Newport and the Travelodge is where we'll be staying.
