Lack of Concern
Hotel was a mess, has to walk outside and come in side door to get to the water park because halls were blocked due to construction. My 11 yrs old daughter got hurt on one of the slides due to a screw sticking out of the slide, none of the employees cared,my husband went to the front desk to make out an incident report and they didnt like that and they didnt even send anyone to fix the screw so that no one would get hurt. To top it off my husband left a ring on top of a t.v. stand in the room. It was never returned to us.

Okay, but not great. Better for younger kids.
By Vince & MaeG, 11/6/08
Pro's: 1) Cute hotel room. The kids especially liked their own little section with bunk beds and their own tv in a special an area by themselves. My room and bed was a good size and clean as well. 2) Good service from the workers. 3) Could keep an eye on all my little ones easily in the water park, not too big so as to lose them. 4) The Hawiian people who taught the hula and about their culture were interesting and fun. 5) I am told the price to this place is much cheaper than the others. 6) Has a frig and microwave so you can bring your own food. Cons: 1) Waterpark was a bit too small to keep my 13 year old entertained. 2) All the water rides were not in the same place. To get to the surfing, you had to walk through the hallways to get to a whole other section. 3) Still some construction going on right now.

Wow!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/17/08
I stayed for the weekend here with my family and was very impressed, along there was slight construction all of the waterpark was opened along with all of the amenities, like the restaurants, and arcade. The kids loved this place the price was extremely low, half of what castaway bay or kalahari and we had the waterpark to ourselves, we never had to wait in line for any of the slides. Also the Luau was amazing I do not know of anywhere outside of Hawaii where there is a Luau like they had complete with Hula dancing and Hawaiian musicians. We will definately come back.

Hotel was Great!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/10/08
We just spent the weekend here with our family. The waterpark was awesome, especially the toilet bowl slide, and outdoor jacuzzi, which was on a balcony away from the noise of the waterpark. They had a Laua with hula dancers and hawaiian musicians. The staff was friendly and courteous, the rooms were clean and brand new. My children were taught how to surf on their surfrider, and the lifeguards were friendly and helpful. Also the best part was the price, we stayed here for only $109 you can't beat that no matter where you go. The hotel was close to restaurants, movie theaters and cedar point. I would definately stay their again

Extremely Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/08
(1) I reserved the largest room size for 4 adults and 3 children. The room contained 1 king size bed and a VERY small sofa couch that was supposed to fit 2 adults (it wouldnt even fit 2 small children comfortably)! (2) There was only 1 elevator to accomodate the ENTIRE hotel. (3) Never in my life have I had such poor service in a restaurant. I was so upset I didnt want to even leave a penny for a tip. Definitely reconsider before you stay here.

Very disappointed
By Joni, 8/12/08
I reserved and paid for a room with two bedrooms and two baths months in advance. When we got our room it was only one bath and one bedroom. Imagine being at a waterpark all day with teenagers all rushing to use one bathroom. The hotel had no signs of being Hawaian decor. The waterpark and rooms were not even completely finished. I think we should of been told all this at reservations. No Hawaiian music ever played. One restaurant was not open. The Black Sands restaurant had very good food. Never had cups or toilet paper in our room. Finally went to Walmart and bought our own. Also, to the smokers, this is a non smoking hotel. Another thing not mentioned to us. We never even had hot water in the shower. Our view from the windows was the top of another roof. The lifeguards were all young kids more interested in each other then anything at all in the waterpark. I also noticed that they are letting children under the height limit ride all the water slides.I personally witnessed a little girl in hysterics come down a water slide alone without her tube. A life guard did rescue her. One elevator for the whole hotel, so long waits. There was no deep water surf pool there, but they did have a small inches deep kiddie one. I guess that wasn't finished either. They advertised all this stuff on their website, but nothing was there or done. The front of the hotel entrance was even a mud pit. I contacted the hotel when I returned home with my complaints and of course was told the manager is not around and he'll get back to me. I received no return call. I am very upset I did not receive the bigger room I reserved and paid for!! I will not return and will pass my experience on.

$119 for vidoe games vs waterpark hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/07
Two years in a row my family has come to this hotel for a end of the season vacation. It was $89 and I thought that was a fair price. The increase in rates without changes to the hotel, besides the name makes me want to reconsider and just go to the indoor water hotel at the current rate. You will get more for your money.

A hidden treasure on the strip.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/21/07
The last time my family stayed here, it was still under the Holiday Inn management. We came up Saturday evening, to go to Cedar Point Sunday morning. I booked my room in advance. My sister booked with a hotel closer to the park but her room was nasty. At the last minute and with a convention going on, the staff was able to get her in. They were able to get her a room right over ours because we all wanted to be able to watch the kids play and they had a lot for them to do. The staff was great. They kept meeting our on going demands without complaint. The staff was so welcoming, that all the other guess seem really nice as well. No one was in a bad mood. The location of the hotel was great as well. It was right across the street from Wal-Mart and in the same parking lot of a couple of reasturants.

Friendliest Hotel Ever
By Heather, 6/13/07
I love the Holiday Inn in Sandusky! You are greeted with friendly staff and big smiles. I rented two rooms for family and friends and we stayed 2 nights each. The rooms were clean and we all got a good nights rest on the beds. First hotel I ever stayed at with a comfortable bed. My kids loved the pool and mini golf. When they were finished with that they played in the arcade. The continental breakfast was in an actual cafe with great tables. The offered waffles, bagels, danishes, juice, milk cereal and fruit. They offer a trolly service back and forth to cedar point. The driver is wonderful and the trolly is fun. The seats are wooden benches. It sort of reminded me of a safari ride as the windows were large and open to the fresh air. I had many great memories with my family there. Thankyou so much Holiday Inn for making our stay a wonderful one.

Kids are king
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/06
The holidome feature keeps us coming back for a winter get-away every year. Putt-putt, ping pong, swimming pool, and the arcade make this the best deal around for family fun. Sandusky mall is right across the street along with a movie theater. Tons of restaurants. Avoid the vending machines as the products may be expired. Their business is primarily summer due to Cedar Point.
