adequate if you don't expect too much

The number of typos in the "Guest Services Directly" is symptomatic of the problems with the Lake Erie Lodge. They clean the rooms, but not with the attention one generally expects of a hotel. This may be because much of the clientele (transients) doesn't care. Local phone calls are 35 cents each (prepaid). Windows were dirty and leaked around the edges (fortunately, the water was confined to the tracks, at least in mainly snowy weather); the shower had the previous tenant's facecloth on the curtain rod; the floor of the shower was soapy (washed but not rinsed), so running water caused soapsuds to foam up. The upholstery on the chair was stained.
There was full cable access. There was an iron and ironing board in room. Have to go down to near front desk for ice. The heater/AC worked great. It was difficult to get toilet seat lid to stay up. A "single" basically has a cot -- fortunately, the desk clerk figured out that I had never been in such a room at a hotel (I thought a "single" must mean that only one person would be in the room), and upgraded me to a king for no charge. You can rent a microwave/fridge combo for $20/week, if there are any available (they broke out a brand-new fridge for me, which I had to remove the shipping tape and cable ties from myself. No freezer.
