Worst Hotel I've ever Seen
By Herkimer, 1/27/12
Place was filthy. Hair on pillows. Hair clumps on the wall of the shower. Asked for fresh sheets and pillow cases and they claimed they didn't have any. Had to go to a different hotel. They refused to refund. Travelocity sided with them. Don't stay here. If there's no place else available find a park bench or sleep in your car. I would.

Hostile and Rude
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/11
I have never been treated so poorly, and I travel a lot. I expected it to be dated, I expected it might not be as clean as I like. I didn't expect to feel threatened. Someone walked in when I was half dressed without knocking and when I asked for some shampoo, I was yelled at and threatened. Choice Hotels needs to send this manager a clear message because they are opening themselves to a huge lawsuit at some point.

Horrible!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/14/11
Picked this place because of price and availability. Funeral travel so we had no previous notice to plan ahead. Manager and his staff were rude and argumentative. Who ever heard of a hotel that tells the guests they may not call the desk before 8am for any reason? Very run down, terrible pillows and towels, pitiful breakfast and don't dare ask for coffee before 8am or they will scream (I do not exaggerate) at you. I'm just glad to be gone from there. How does this place pass the requirements to be a Choice Hotel? They do not know even the basics of hospitality.

Next room parties all night while manager diddles!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/10
It's a tacky, run-down, inexpensive joint but the horror was the all night orgy running in the next room. The manager allegedly spoke to the partiers, by phone -- not in person-- to no apparent effect. I finally fell asleep around 5 am and got two hours of sleep. When I spoke to the fellow the next day, he explained the "lady" was a regular local, visiting a few times a month. Dear boy even told me her name! I had no choice but to stay the second night. On checking out, I suggested he ought to adjust the room charges.... He explained he couldn't because he had already 'sent them off.' I pressed a bit and he did make a half-hearted offer to write me a check for $20. I didn't want him to trouble himself, and he happily told me he would make it up to me my next visit. Any manager with a grape nut's worth of common sense, would have cancelled the charges for the first night. That he also was too cowardly to confront the party-girl in an effective manner speaks for itself. No, I won't be going back

A horrible place!
By Susan, 10/13/08
We just spent 3 nights at this dump because of a wedding and no refund policy. The rooms smelled, there were holes in the walls, and in the shower. The owner was very rude to my 86 year old mother when she asked about something. The entire place is shabby and run-down and a rip off even at $99.00 a night. It was a very unpleasant stay. One member of the wedding guests had to fix his own toilet that overflowed and there was only one burned out light bulb in his room...when told about this the management told him to get another lightbulb from a light outside. Please don't stay there!!!

Disappointing
By LSBN, 10/23/07
I have lived in this area all of my life (37 years) and made my first trip to SkyTop Restaurant on Valentine's Day 2006 and the parking lot was a sheet of ICE - nobody salted it and we nearly fell. The food was overpriced and the steak wasn't well-done even after 2 tries. We had a great view and good drinks, but that was all. Not worth the money. We could have been happier eating take-out up on a hill top.

Fleas
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/07
We arrived and put our suitcases into a room 10 seconds later our legs and arms were swarming with Fleas! We rushed outside and couldnt believe it! We quickly removed our baby's suitcases and our things. The next room we got was below ground on one side and smelt so mouldy - but we had no other choice. It's a shame that the managaer's don't understand what high standards and cleanliness are about. Very disappointing. It is next to an excellent restaurant. I hope they get it together and stop selling rooms that suit backpackers, rather than families.

The worst
By Richard V, 7/24/05
I remember the Sky Top from years ago when it was under the original management. Now it is a dump. At first glance my wife and I thought that it was closed. The pool was filled with debris and green. The lobby was dingy, smelled musty and generally run down. The asphalt throughout the area was cracked and buckled. It honestly looked like a ghost town. The management barely spoke English and seemed totally perplexed. When we opened the door to the room I could not believe they had the nerve to rent this room. I looked and smelled like it had been closed up for months. The rug was frayed and stained. The bed was held up on 1 corner by a cinderblock and the bathroom smelled like a locker room. We walked out and immediately demanded our money back. I only received a partial refund but was compensated by hotels.com after I informed them of the situation. Thank God we were able to secure a room at the local Holiday Inn which saved our weekend trip. Skytop is a dump, avoid it at all costs.

Pleasant and inexpensive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/15/05
The rooms are basic but fairly large. Some stains on the door and the wall, but not overly disturbing. The entire Kingston area had just had major floods (some houses literally washed away) and the room smelled musty but I attribute it to the floods. There's a breakfast room with muffins, sticky buns, cereal, all looking like supermarket brand items but it's pleasant and you can sit outside under a gazebo and look at the view. The beds are nice and firm. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was very low but the shower was actually fine.
