Silver Sands Motel, Greenport

From the outside this place looks like the Bates Motel.I never had a chance to see the inside.My reserved room was overbooked so they sent me to another hotel down the road and said they would pay the difference.The front desk at the other hotel called Silver Sands to confirm they would pay the difference and the owner hung up .The front desk called again and the owner told them she would call the police if they called again.Will never stay or recommend to anyone.

We have enjoyed the Silver Sands for many an August visit. It is peaceful, convenient and best of all NO BODY bothers you. It is so nice there that you are not required to talk to anyone. It is understood that you must respect the privacy of all the guests. Each and every time we have been there, the guests have been quiet and everyone just did their own thing. The key is respect and common decency. I have never worried about personal effects as the owners, staff and the guests have had the upmost integrity. Those commodities.... priceless. Location speaks for itself. Cleanliness and value are a match. You get what you pay for. Clean enough to be safe, and sandy & "beachy" enough to be happy. A great spot to relax and take in all that is the North fork of LI. Malico & Calico

My niece and I found this little gem last year, quite by accident. We talked about it all year. I think our families went just to shut us up. Well, we are already planning a full week for next year. The property is just lovely, perfect for families. We barbecued, played baci and whiffle ball, swam in the ocean and the pool. We ate breakfast and lunch every day at the picnic table on our front lawn. The family that runs this charming place is so accommodating, you feel like distant relatives. We will probably be brining more people with us next year!

I was at Silver Sands many years ago...Remembered it and returned 5 years ago with many friends. We all love it, especially Jean who is so good to us. We are "Red Hatters" and have come back year-after-year and plan to keep coming back as long as we can. Love everything about it and Greenport. We look forward to our stay in June 2008 and will plan to return in 2009 again.

We love Silver Sands. We have been going there for about 20 years. Jean is the most wonderful person. She always gives us great deals. Once we went to Foxwoods Casino for free because it was our 25th Anniversary. She always gives us a basket of snacks and a bottle of wine. Recently she gave us a $60.00 gift certificate towards Big Mama's Restaurant. The rooms are very cozy overlooking the water. We love you Jean! KATHY AND VINNY ROCCHIO

We have been coming here for years and every time we come back it gets better and better. There is nothing not to like - the owners, the help and wonderful friendly guests and most of all the awesome memories. The people at Silver Sands take that extra step to make sure your stay is a wonderful experience.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Silver Sands last Fall. We got a great package deal - 3 nights including movie tickets, wine, breakfast and snacks at a discounted price. Friendly service. During the off season it's very relaxing. The rooms are pretty large w/ a separate sitting/eating area. The room we stayed in had a small kitchen area, large TV, couch and small dining table. It's in a great location down a quite road in a wooded area on the beach. We did have an ant problem however but as soon as we complained the staff offered to switch our room (which we passed on b/c we had a room w/ a great view) and they gave us yet another great discount. I highly recommend this motel if you're not looking for anything fancy and just want to relax. I'm sure it's great for families during the summer.
