Terrible service
By lorraine, 7/2/08
I found the service personel very rude, specially switchboard personel which continually tranfer calls for my room to other rooms,or disconected calls. When friends complain to the switchboard because several times, when calling me, they never heard the phone ringing but instead the line will either go dead or right back to swichboard and ask that the line be check they were told that "phone lines in this hotel are very old" but asure them that the calls had gone tru and that maybe I was not picking up because " I did't want to talk to them. Very disturbing.

Horrible!
By guest, 3/20/08
This was by far the worst hotel my boyfriend and I have ever stayed in! First of all the parking lot was a mess, it was completely torn up due to the construction next door which would've been nice to have been informed of prior to our stay. Second, the room and bathroom were unclean, there were stains on the sheets which we had to notify the front desk person about. I would not recommend this hotel.

TURN AROUND!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/07
This hotel is the worst place that i have stayed in my life. I would rather sleep in a new york city subway car than in this hotel. Using mapquest directions i pulled into what appeared to be a construction site, but was indeed the unpaved parking lot of the red carpet inn...That should have been a good indication not to go any further, but I was on a company business trip and with a co-worker...so we went in. Lets go on to the check in...we walked into the red carpet (the carpet is no longer red because it is never cleaned...that should have been an indication to leave right away), and as soon as I opened the door I overcome by the an intoxicating odor of cheap bar soap and bleach. Checkin staff was not my definition of friendly, but regardless we got our keys and went upstairs, and entered our rooms. I am not too picky, but i would have liked to have an airconditioner that works, or a fan, or at least a window that opens. My room had none. There were 2 windows in my room that looked like they would open, but they were stuck shut, with one window "fixed" with duct tape, and another made of plastic and "fixed" with duct tape. The light in the closed did not turn off, and the light in the room did not turn on. The TV in my co-workers room did not work, because of a poor connection, and as he went to try and tighten the cable he realized that it ran into another room. Going onto the internet was a problem, because the signal is so weak I would swear it did not exist. The floor had not been cleaned, as there were pills and lots of previously chewed gum found there. On our last night there we looked at the sheets, and found a lot of red spots, upon uncovering the top layer we found the layer below to be covered with hair (presumably human hair). I guess the creepyist thing was when i went to my car in the morning, and found BLOOD ON THE HOOD OF MY CAR. Never have i seen anything like this. The only thing that I liked about this hotel was the police that showed up halfway through our stay there...shows at least they are not too scared to go there...but I sure am. I guess the worst part was that the red carpet overcharged us for our stay there. The manager neglected to return calls about this billing dispute, and so we went back to the hotel on four occasions to try and resolve this, and each time the manager did not have records of what he billed us for, and he eventually kicked us out of the hotel.

Welfare Hotel?
By Anonymous, 2/14/07
This place is awful! This hotel had peeling paint, dinged up furniture, a dirty carpet. My room was ugly and in the morning I was COLD! (Feb 13, 2006 Albany low was 3 degrees F.) The TV was tiny, The canteen and ice machines on the third floor were not working. The room was not properly soundproofed--I could hear I-90 throughout the night. There was no continental brekfast, only lousy coffee. I hit the nearby DD for a baegal and coffee before my meeting. I prefer to stay at simple, unpretentious hotels and motels. I have been to two hotels that were worse than this one: one that had working girls (the hotel got raided while I was there) and a welfare hotel in Rhode Island I got stuck staying at because I could not find a room for love or money. I'm spending the money and staying at the Courtyard the next time I have a meeting in that area.

NICE STAY INDEED!!
By asb723, 1/3/06
First I gotta say the service was excellent.. When I had a question they would have the answer or do some research to find the ansswer promptly. The service desk was open 24/7.. I finally found a place that would respect that I had a pet and not charge me a huge fees or deposits for having my pet stay with me.. I checked out other places in ALBANY which resulted that most others charged a "non-refundable fee" unlike the RED CARPET INN (which if my pet did not do any damage, I got my deposit back, ALL OF IT)! For the cleanliness, it was clean but I must state a nice fine scrubbing in the bathroom on the floor tiles is a must.. In between the tiles on the floor it had a grime build up which does happen when a floor like that is just mopped and not really scrubbed.. The location was preety easy to find as their sign u could see 2 blocks away.. And I am not from that area and I found it pretty easily. The beds were comfortable.. They did not have firm beds.. These were beds that u went in the middle and kinda got caved into the bed LOL.. Very bouncy.. These beds were not the pillow tops eaither! I would rwally suggest FIRM BEDS FOR ALL ROOMS! But hey it was an experience.. They also did offer breakfast in the morning, cereal, donuts, milk, coffee and NOT JUST any donuts and coffee, DUNKIN DONUTS coffee and donuts, YUMMMMMMMM! WOULD I stay there again, YES I would especially to see the friendly faces and becasue MY DOG WAS ALLOWED..

Stay away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/28/05
The beds were small and uncomfortable. The tv didn't have a remote. The bathroom was dirty and had missing tiles on the walls. Pay the extra money to stay at one of the hotels down the street.

Very Dirty Hotel
By Greg, 7/14/04
This is the dirtiest hotel that I have ever stayed in. I stayed for two days, and not once did I see anyone clean anything. There was mold on the cealing near the window, which was filthy. The toilet did not flush unless you held the handle down, the bathroom lights did not work above the sink. My family stayed in this hotel with a group, and everyone had similar stories. One gentleman found a syringe needle stuck in the rug in his room. One room did not have a phone. When he complained, someone came up to the room and handed him a phone in a box. He never could figure out how to make it work. Stay anywhere else but here.
